Job Description: Maintenance Technician – Packaging Maintenance and Support

Job Summary:

                We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance, Controls & IT Technician to join our team in an industrial environment. The Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing control systems and automation equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems as well as experience with PLCs, HMIs and industrial automation technologies. The Technician will support the smooth operation of our printers, packaging equipment, and related systems. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in electrical equipment, controls, and IT systems, who is eager to apply their expertise in a hands-on environment.

 

Reports To: Director of Packaging Operations – Wynne, AR

Key Responsibilities:

·         Install, calibrate, and maintain control systems, sensors, and instrumentation.

·         Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure packaging equipment, Auto-Baggers & Label Printers operate reliably and efficiently.

·         Diagnose and resolve issues with PLCs, motor drives, sensors and other automation components.

·         Work with electrical and mechanical systems to identify and resolve faults quickly to minimize downtime.

·         Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI programs.

·         Configure and maintain communication networks.

·         Maintain records of work performed, including updates to schematics, programs, and system documentation.

·         Provide detailed reports on system performance, repairs, and improvements.

·         Collaborate with engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel to optimize processes and systems.

·         Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and standards while working on equipment.

  • Support IT systems related to equipment operations, including network connectivity and system updates.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software for equipment, with a focus on EZ Label systems.
  • Respond to technical support requests from the distribution team, providing timely and effective resolutions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve efficiency and address recurring issues.

Qualifications:

·         Associates degree or similar certification in electrical engineering, automation technology, or related field.

·         Minimum 2-5 years of experience in industrial controls, automation or manufacturing/packaging operations.

·         Proven experience working with electrical equipment and controls.

  • Knowledge of IT systems, including basic networking and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Experience with EZ Label software is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·         Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Technical Skills:

·         Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs.

·         Proficiency with PLC programming software (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, etc.).

·         Knowledge of industrial controls systems including PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.

·         Knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting tools.

·         Familiarity with robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.

·         Certifications in IT support or electrical systems are a plus.
