Job description

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will execute and promote discipline towards mechanisms for quality assurance and control activities for a large supply chain of electronics, mechanical parts and semiconductors. Our impact goes beyond compliance, we are a governance org that supports the processes, mechanisms, and tools that foster immediate and future success - think process engineering, continuous improvement, and adherence to a world class quality management system.
The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with excellent analytical abilities, strong technical skills, effective written and verbal communication, and most importantly, a passion for developing processes, manufacturing systems, and tools to produce high-quality, mission-critical hardware in volume production.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the quality management system and its mechanisms for Leo's supply chain operations
- Govern the supplier quality lifecycle from new product introduction through sustaining
- Implement and sustain continuous improvement mechanisms: SPC monitoring, control plan optimization, PFMEA updates, and manufacturing optimization opportunities.
- Analyze variation sources, challenge specifications, and define proactive improvement plans grounded in data and physics
- Drive defect identification and elimination activities including application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools
- Collaborate with engineering, suppliers, supply chain, and manufacturing to optimize Design for Excellence
- Move quality checks upstream and eliminate the need to inspect quality into the product by achieving high process capability
- Lead process capability analysis (Cpk/Ppk) for critical characteristics and intervene before defects are created
- Develop and execute Layered Process Audits at supplier sites
- Drive structured RCCA using 8D methodology
- Own supplier qualification (PPAP)
- Foster a culture of quality, improvement and learning with Leo
