Job description

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. We are seeking a talented attorney with a passion for telecommunications regulatory law to join our growing legal team and help shape the future of global connectivity.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
- Provide U.S. and international regulatory counsel on satellite-based broadband services
- Develop and advocate legal and policy positions across domestic and international regulatory proceedings
- Partner with Amazon Leo's technical, public policy, and business teams to identify and navigate regulatory risks
- Monitor evolving regulatory landscapes and translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance for non-legal stakeholders
- Draft regulatory filings, policy advocacy materials, and internal legal guidance with clarity and precision
- Contribute to cross-functional strategy discussions where regulatory considerations intersect with business decisions
A day in the life
No two days look the same on the Amazon Leo legal team. You might start your morning reviewing a regulatory filing with a foreign jurisdiction and close the day drafting a policy advocacy position for an FCC proceeding. You will be expected to quickly synthesize complex regulatory and technical issues, offer clear and actionable guidance, and engage confidently with stakeholders across the business. You bring a deep knowledge of telecommunications law, a willingness to dive into technical subject matter, and the judgment to make sound recommendations under uncertainty. You thrive in ambiguity and are energized by the opportunity to help build something new.
About the team
Amazon Leo's legal team sits at the intersection of new technology and highly regulated industries with a global footprint. We are a collaborative, mission-driven group of attorneys and legal professionals who partner closely with business teams to help build one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the world. Our work is fast-paced, intellectually stimulating, and deeply consequential - we are connecting communities that have never had reliable internet access. We value diverse perspectives, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to tackle hard problems together.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in Regulatory Law
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in law firm practice and/or in-house legal experience
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively for stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment
- Comfort working independently while contributing to cross-functional teams
- Satellite, aerospace, or emerging technology regulatory experience is a plus but not required
