Job description

Amazon Freight Finance is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Finance Manager to join its Transportation Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to create and innovate on behalf of our customers and build the transportation experience of the future. This role will have heavy impact and high visibility to the long-term strategy for the business, and it will require strong partnership with the Sales, Pricing and Costing organization within Amazon Freight and across transportation teams. Experience with this team opens up amazing career opportunities across Amazon, such as senior roles supporting an impressive array of business areas and project management roles. The role will require an individual to deep dive into business input drivers, dive into complex data pool, and use insights to influence business decisions. The role is ideally suited for a candidate who has demonstrated an exceptional financial modeling and statistical analysis and strong verbal and written skills.
If you like taking a larger scope identifying the most cost effective and safest way to deliver to our customer you will enjoy transportation. This entire system has to move like a symphony and it has to be orchestrated. It is an incredible math problem that we have to solve; we have to put statistics and financial models behind it. In this role you will have a high level of visibility and partner with cross functional teams. We help others understand finance and are the trusted business advisors to our business teams.
We are looking for Finance Manager who exhibits excellent attention to detail and is comfortable with ambiguity. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly evolving environment. Regular collaboration with executives and various business units across Amazon will allow you the opportunity to exhibit your verbal and written communication skills. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to improve and create new measures for business effectiveness, innovate creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools, and identify high priority projects to maximize results for key stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities
- Own Shipper level Margin Analysis and partner with Sales, Pricing and other teams to address issues in margin.
- Perform the Cost dive deep in partnership with Cost Planning and Execution team and build template to show weekly, monthly and YTD performance including commentary for leadership reviews
- Partner with Cross Functional teams on cost allocation and its methodology to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Identify opportunities to resolve defects proactively and improve, scale, or simplify finance tools across teams and organizations.
- Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams and partner finance teams to ensure seamless integration of the AF plan into the overall Worldwide Operations.
- With Controllership as the top priority, you identify, resolve, or provide guidance to resolve complex data integrity issues. You improve controls to address financial risk and support frugality.
- Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs. You make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure.
- Use active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjust style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly. Your communications drive critical business decisions.
- Have backbone, disagree and commit to foster constructive dialogues, harmonize conflicting views, resolve issues, and drive decisions.
A day in the life
Your day will be a blend of deep financial analysis, collaborative problem-solving, and strategic partnership with Operations, Pricing, Product, Sales, and cross-functional teams. You'll dive into shipper-level data to analyze revenue and cost performance, work closely with site leadership teams to interpret key financial metrics, and review performance data to identify trends that help leadership understand the financial health of operations. Each day brings unique challenges requiring creativity, precision, comfort with ambiguity, and a passion for understanding the financial drivers of a rapidly scaling business, as you support cost-saving initiatives through financial analyses, stakeholder meetings, and identifying opportunities to reduce cost to serve while maintaining operational excellence.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or MBA and 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
