Job description

Are you ready to help Amazon deliver world class service in its transportation operations? Transportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities (such as checking in trailers, traffic flow, internal communications with operations, etc.), conduct yard audits, complete applicable driver training programs (Hostler, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) School, etc.), and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need (including but not limited to hostlers and day cabs) to support Amazon's transportation network. Benefits of being a Transportation Associate include the opportunity to work outside and understand the new and exciting world of transportation operations.
As a Transportation Associate you will:
• Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations. You will follow and enforce safety measures and policies to all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those who enter the yard, including vendors and senior team members
• Perform various functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers, as needed, to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain workflow for buildings.
• Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
• Learn Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and comply with company policies, procedures of those DOT regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.)
• Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
• Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks at appropriate times in compliance with Amazon policy and federal and state regulations, adhere to yard safety policies, obey all applicable traffic laws, and drive in accordance with weather/road conditions.
• Support the business on an as needed basis by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area
• Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).
What else does the team have to offer? We're glad you asked!
• Opportunity to work outside and drive different commercial motor vehicles in the yard and over the road
• Exposure to different Amazon site types including NACF, NASC, Air, AMZL & AMXL.
• Long-term growth potential via comprehensive training in transportation with Amazon.
• Dependent on business need, you may have the opportunity to earn your Commercial Driver's License (CDL) paid for by Amazon.
Join ATS! ATS is one of the fastest growing business lines within Amazon over the past 5 Years with continued growth to come!
If requested due to business need, Transportation Associates must obtain their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Driver Qualification File (DQF) and utilize it as a condition of the role, paid for by Amazon. If Associate is requested to become CDL and DQF certified to drive Over-the-Road for Amazon, this position becomes regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and follows regulations issued by the DOT's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must hold a valid driver's license for the state in which they reside and be eligible to drive in accordance with DOT requirements. For Department of Labor/Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration roles (roles for which you receive a CDL), English proficiency is required per federal regulation.
