Job Description

The Delivery Driver Assistant is responsible for assisting our Delivery Drivers with delivering solid wood Amish furniture to our customers. The right candidate will have a chauffeur's license and DOT medical certificate or willing to obtain both prior to starting work. Delivery Driver Assistants are expected to act as a backup driver if a Delivery Driver is unable to complete the route or for other unforeseen reasons. Assistants also work in the warehouse as needed when not on trips.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with delivery and set up of furniture in our customers' homes while providing an exceptional customer experience.
  • Calling customers to give estimated times of arrival.
  • Being attentive while on the road to help ensure safe travel.
  • Assist with loading and unloading our truck at woodshops and the warehouse, utilizing time saving and organization skills while also taking care not to damage the furniture.
  • Assist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Ensure delivery delivery paperwork and online communication forms are filled out properly.
  • Pull, package, and ship products for our Amazon platform to provide timely and accurate shipments.
  • Follow all safety standards and requirements within the warehouse according to company policy and OSHA and notify the supervisor of all safety concerns, incidents, and/or accidents.
  • Check all products for quality issues to reduce customer service claims.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be able to obtain a chauffer's license and DOT certification for secondary driving support as needed.
  • 1-2 years of local delivery experience preferred.
  • Experience interacting with customers preferred.
  • Be organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to learn.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Physical Environment

  • This position requires multiple night travel while making deliveries in other states.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit in the passenger side of a box truck for most of the workday.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand and walk on a concrete floor; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; operate a pallet jack and hand truck, and regularly lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Special vision requirements are near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Warehouse is humidity controlled.
