Job description

The People Engagement Experience Team is reinventing how millions of Amazon employees live and work. Our customer is every person interested in or currently working at Amazon, and we're passionate about making their lives better through thoughtfully designed, high-quality products and services.
We're seeking a strategic, first-principles focused UX Designer to drive user experience innovation for our team. UX Design at Amazon brings the practices of Interaction Design, Visual Design, Service Design and User Research into a single, user-centric design enterprise. Our UX designers are capable of producing great UI concepts, developing those concepts into complete and well-documented frameworks, producing visuals, and developing and delivering those concepts in high fidelity with highest-quality fit and finish.
This role requires someone who can think systemically, challenge assumptions, and demonstrate measurable impact through design while tackling complex, ambiguous problems that directly impact millions of Amazonians. You'll be at the forefront of designing AI-first experiences that transform how employees work.
Key job responsibilities
• Drive end-to-end UX strategy for complex products and services, including AI-powered features, by incorporating user insights, business requirements, and technical constraints into elegant and intuitive user experiences
• Quickly and iteratively create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high fidelity mockups with detailed visual design specifications for mobile and web interfaces throughout the design process
• Design AI-first experiences that leverage emerging technologies while maintaining human-centered design principles and ensuring transparency, trust, and usability
• Own design decisions for problems with complexity, working through ambiguity and adapting your approach to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders while articulating trade-offs and rationale
• Be a champion for user-centered design by partnering with researchers to test your solutions in front of users, and be willing to build lightweight prototypes and conduct scrappy and quick user testing on your own if required
• Present design work to UX, Product, and Engineering teams, as well as stakeholders and executive leadership, confidently communicating your vision and demonstrating business impact
• Contribute to user experience design guidelines and development best practices and standards at Amazon Design Community, particularly around AI integration and emerging technologies
A day in the life
You'll work with a cross-functional team of highly capable designers, researchers, product managers, engineers, and data scientists, inventing and iterating on end-to-end workflows and AI-powered experiences. You'll develop your ideas with sketches, prototypes, wireframes and story boards, confidently communicating your vision to senior executives. We're looking for someone who can bring disruptive ideas to life. You're a skilled UI designer with the capacity to think deeply about the architecture of the product space, including how AI can enhance user experiences.
About the team
People Engagement Experience is a multidisciplinary team creating truly meaningful products and experiences that empower and connect millions of Amazon employees. Our smart, passionate, and eccentric crew consists of 40+ UX designers, UX researchers, visual designers and copy writers. We have a broad mix of experience levels, tenures, educational background, skills, and location.
We're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. While we're focused on improving the lives of our associates, we also prioritize building meaningful connections with each other. You'll have opportunities to contribute to Amazon's broader design community and shape the future of employee experience design, particularly as we pioneer AI-integrated workplace solutions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of design experience
- Knowledge of general AI tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Have an online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices
- Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows
- Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature
- Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards
