IPTA is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to join an established data governance team supporting enterprise data initiatives within a DoD environment. In this individual contributor role, you will help manage the enterprise data catalog, improve data quality, identify and remediate data duplication, and support data stewardship, classification, and compliance efforts aligned to DoD, NIST, and FedRAMP requirements. You will collaborate closely with data stewards, analysts, and engineering teams to ensure the organization's data assets are trusted, well-documented, and properly governed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a contributing member of an established data governance team supporting enterprise data initiatives
  • Administer, maintain, and enhance the enterprise data catalog, ensuring accurate and up-to-date metadata
  • Develop and maintain metadata, data lineage, and business glossary content to improve data discoverability and understanding
  • Identify instances of data duplication and redundancy, and design and implement solutions to remediate them
  • Support master data management (MDM) efforts to establish authoritative, trusted data sources
  • Monitor and measure data quality, identify anomalies, and coordinate remediation activities
  • Assist in the development, documentation, and enforcement of data governance policies, standards, and procedures
  • Coordinate with data stewards across business and technical teams to promote consistent data practices
  • Support data governance councils and working groups, including preparing materials and tracking action items
  • Support data classification, tagging, and handling practices in accordance with DoD and NIST requirements
  • Assist with data privacy and compliance activities, including regulatory and audit reporting
  • Collaborate with application, analytics, and engineering teams to ensure data assets are properly governed
  • Produce reports, dashboards, and metrics to communicate data governance progress and data quality status

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related data-focused role
  • Working knowledge of data governance concepts, including data quality, metadata management, and data stewardship
  • Experience with data cataloging and/or metadata management practices
  • Proficiency writing and interpreting SQL queries
  • Familiarity with DoD and NIST data handling, classification, and compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team
  • Active Security Clearance required
  • DoD 8570 Level II/III certification required

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with a data catalog or data governance platform (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Microsoft Purview)
  • Experience supporting master data management (MDM) initiatives
  • Experience identifying and remediating data duplication and data quality issues
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK
