Job description:
The Hampton University School of Engineering, Architecture and Aviation is seeking a candidate for a one-year joint appointment with the Division of Information Technology as a Senior Research Scientist/Scholar in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The position will be funded through a grant from Amazon Robotics (AR) and will be filled immediately or will remain open until it is filled. The position is located in Hampton, Virginia.
Founded in 1868, Hampton University (www.hamptonu.edu) is located on approximately 300 acres of the Virginia Peninsula. It is a privately endowed, co-educational, nonsectarian institution of higher education and is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). • Contribute to the development, preparation, and submission of grant proposals to federal agencies, foundations, and industry partners.
  • Serve as principal investigator or co-investigator on externally funded research projects, including managing scientific aims, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Mentor undergraduate research assistants engaged in AI/ML related projects.
  • Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to develop and execute joint research initiatives, and labs focused on AI/ML and its applications.
  • Engage in seminars and guest lectures in the candidate's area of expertise.
  • Participate in research development activities, including workshops, symposia, and strategic planning for AI/ML research.

Qualifications:
