Job description

Heavy Equipment Operator

Safely and efficiently operates heavy equipment and power tools to perform a series of skilled/manual activities and tasks and/or to transport materials, personnel, and supplies to complete work assignments. This position is located at 1616 GEARS RD. HOUSTON, TX, 77067.

Requirements
  • Support warehouse operations by transporting materials over designated routes using trailer and forklift.
  • Provide excellent customer service by making prompt and courteous deliveries of customer orders.
  • Perform daily detailed inspection of vehicle and trailer to ensure general maintenance and safety of vehicle and trailer.
  • Perform all duties as a member of Warehouse team as needed.
  • Keep work areas clean including housekeeping of Warehouse(s) and vehicles.
  • Safe working attitude at all times.
  • Monthly inventory & inspection of straps, tarps, etc.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Listens and gets clarification.
  • Responds well to questions.
  • Demonstrates group presentation skills.
  • Participate in meetings.
  • Teamwork - Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Must have knowledge of how to effectively manipulate load to maximize trailer space.
  • Must have Computer Skills.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed including weekends.
Required Experience & Education
  • Current Class A - Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Required.
  • Clean Driving Record Required.
  • DOT regulation experience is desirable
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) (Preferred)
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift and be certified by IP.
  • Must be able to perform daily routine inspections on the vehicles, trailer and Forklift.
  • Ability to operate a Forklift safely.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to reach with arms and use tools above/over the head.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to stand (for extended periods of time), walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl and twist
  • Ability to sit, balance and climb ladders, scaffolds and other objects.
  • Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas.
