The IT Systems Engineer II is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved this by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. They will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform network and server administration functions, including configuring, installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and operating systems
  • Analyze network and system resource utilization and implements solutions to correct problems to ensure all applications are accessible and functioning properly
  • Identify and recommend appropriate changes to infrastructure to improve performance, reliability, and availability
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security for SOC 2 and ISO compliance
  • Build, maintain, and manage physical and virtual infrastructure
  • Proactively manage and troubleshoot storage environment, including capacity planning/availability, quotas, and snapshots to optimize performance
  • Perform systems engineering activities in all phases of a project; this includes but is not limited to discovery, designing, building, testing, and deployment
  • Research and evaluates all network and server hardware and software options and upgrades; this includes but is not limited to updates, patches, and service packs, as needed
  • Provides Tier 3 support to IT Support Specialists
  • Supports and executes updates to servers, network, and storage devices
  • Communicate with internal customers as required; this includes but is not limited to keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Administer company Azure and AWS Environments including configuration and creation of servers, storage, and networks.

  • Completes assigned tasks and projects effectively, completely, and on time
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, a related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience:
  • Not less than five (5) years' experience in systems and network administration, preferably in a regulated laboratory or research organization.
  • Not less than five (5) years' experience supporting and managing a corporate IT system, including but not limited to: Active Directory, virtualized infrastructure, backup systems, network architecture, data room management, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Not less than five (5) years' experience supporting and managing corporate Azure and AWS environments including but not limited to: virtualized infrastructure, network architecture, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Not less than five (5) years' experience providing end-user support and desktop engineering.
  • Knowledge of Azure AD, Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, Scripting/Power Shell, Azure, AWS, and other Microsoft and third-party enterprise technologies.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2012 through 2025 Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of Network protocols including DHCP, DNS, IP routing, VLANs and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of ITIL Service Support and Delivery best practices.

Skills:
  • Knowledge and experience within the Microsoft stack of applications and platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of server configurations: RAID, SAN, networking protocols, IIS, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, VPN technologies, firewalls, and security certificates.
  • Demonstrated network knowledge: WAN, LAN, VPN, VLAN, Route and Switch, Firewalls, ACLs, Spanning Tree.
  • Demonstrated of knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy and Distributed File System practices
  • Demonstrated ability in diagnosing and remedying critical server-related problems and failures promptly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hyper converged infrastructure and networking components.
  • Knowledge of in/out of band management.
