Job description

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. If you'd like to help us build the place to find and buy anything online and continue to build and expand The Cloud this is your chance to make history.
The Data Center Community is looking for an extraordinary individual with proven and tested leadership and management skills as a leader in our data center operations organization in the metro Atlanta area as a Data Center Operations (DCO) Cluster Manager.
Data Center Operations Cluster Manager is one of our most senior management roles in the data center environment

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a large organization, managing managers who own data center infrastructure including the operational availability of network and server systems at scale.
The pace, scale, and growth of Amazon's data center platform will challenge you. Our uncompromisingly high standards as we continually seek to innovate on behalf of our customers will push you to new levels of creativity. At this level, Amazon is unique in that we seek experienced senior leaders who have evolved to be highly strategic in their approach to managing their business unit, yet understand how to lead large teams by example who will not hesitate to roll up their sleeves when tactical needs dictate it.
The ideal candidate for this role will understand data center IT infrastructure and Amazon Web Services and understand how the two coexist

If this understanding is contextual you will be served well by your experience.
If you are passionate about Customer Experience, think and act globally and want to contribute to the operational excellence of Amazon.com data centers. This may be the challenge you've been looking for!
Hampton is an AWS GovCloud region. As required by our contracts with the federal government, effective February 24, 2026, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S

Citizens. (GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States).
Candidates MUST be US Citizens at time of application for this role.
Key job responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of Data Center Managers (3-9 area and front-line managers) and 100-150 hourly associates within Regional Data Centers.
Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data center operations.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.
Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective including mentoring and training.
Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the globe.
Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including data center managers and data center operations technicians.
Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build-outs, new colocation build-outs, AWS data center expansions, and colocation expansions, including the network and server rack infrastructure to facilitate the daily operations.
Experience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing specific task balancing internal skillsets with frugality.
Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.
A day in the life
A typical day at AWS is that there is no typical day, the business is constantly changing

This position is both working with global partners and managing local leaders so spending time between both spaces daily is a must. A leader in this space has the daily flexibility to understand what is most important at that moment and flex in and out of those meetings. We work hard, have fun and make history...daily.
