Every team at Amazon that manages employee lifecycle processes - their onboarding, benefits, pay, immigration - depends on a foundational data layer. This role owns it.
Employee Onboarding Experience (EOE) transforms the full employment lifecycle experience for Amazon's global workforce, supporting millions of candidates and employees each year. In this role, you own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the data platform and self-service experiences that define how Amazon collects, stores, validates, and distributes information for every Amazonian across 64 countries - 1.1M+ annual submissions, 850K+ self-service changes, and 3M+ annual views.
This is not a maintenance role. You are transforming a fragmented, legacy-dependent landscape into a unified platform that serves the entire employment lifecycle - from the moment a candidate enters their information during application, through every life event and status change during employment, to offboarding and alumni. You will define the architecture of how data flows between systems, build AI-powered experiences that automate document verification and detect data quality issues before they cascade downstream, and deprecate legacy dependencies that have constrained the platform.
The scope is unusually broad for a single PMT: you own both the customer-facing experiences (how candidates and employees interact with their data in AtoZ) and the underlying platform (how that data propagates to every downstream consumer). You will define API contracts, partner with SDMs on system design trade-offs, and drive prioritization across competing stakeholder needs - Payroll needs one thing, Benefits needs another, High Volume Hiring has a different use case, Legal has country-specific requirements. Your job is to cut through that noise, figure out what matters, and ship.
Your roadmap includes direct S-Team goal dependencies: enabling compliant hiring in new countries where Amazon is expanding, and launching family data capabilities to expand Amazon's reach beyond employees. You will also drive automation that eliminates manual operational effort, standardize identity data to remove ~$1M in annual downstream costs, and decouple the platform from legacy systems entirely.
This role thrives in complexity. You'll operate across 64 countries with stakeholders who have different needs - and you'll be the one who synthesizes those inputs into a coherent platform direction. That requires analytical depth, comfort with ambiguity, and the judgment to make prioritization calls when not everyone can get what they want at the same time. What you get in return: ownership of the single source of truth that powers nearly every employee experience at Amazon, and the chance to build the unified framework that makes it all work.
Key job responsibilities
- Define and drive the product strategy and roadmap for employee and candidate data services across the full employment lifecycle - from pre-boarding collection through ongoing self-service management to alumni - building a unified platform across 64 countries.
- Own both sides of the stack: the AtoZ-embedded self-service experiences (how people submit, update, and manage their information) and the backend platform (how that data is validated, stored, and propagated to downstream consumers).
- Drive platform transformation - deprecating legacy system dependencies, defining new service architectures, and building AI-powered capabilities including automated document verification (OCR), data quality anomaly detection, and proactive customer notifications.
- Navigate complex stakeholder landscapes - partnering with Payroll, Benefits, High Volume Hiring, Work Authorization, Tax, Legal, Privacy, and Operations teams who all depend on your platform but have competing priorities and different requirements by country.
- Partner with SDMs and engineering on system design decisions - you don't need to have designed systems from scratch, but you must be fluent in high-level architecture and conversant on why designs do or do not scale to meet business needs.
- Define success metrics, use data to drive prioritization, and own launches end-to-end - measuring adoption and customer impact post-launch.
A day in the life
You work at the intersection of customer experience, data platform architecture, and global compliance. You define how personal information flows across the employment lifecycle - collaborating with engineering on platform decisions, partnering with service operations and recruiting teams on upstream and downstream data needs, and aligning with legal and privacy teams across countries. You balance new capability delivery against technical debt, use data to drive prioritization, and ensure self-service experiences are consistent and intuitive for candidates, employees, contingent workers, and alumni.
