Job description

Shape the pricing strategy for our largest commercial fleets and drive our US expansion.

$100M+ funded. Global footprint. AI-powered. Human-driven. INSHUR is the embedded insurance powerhouse for the on-demand world. We partner with giants like Uber and Amazon to provide fair, data-backed coverage for the modern workforce. We’re 200 people strong across the UK, US, and Netherlands, using AI as a multiplier to stay ahead of the curve. Want to work where tech actually meets the road?

You’re in the right place. Find out more about our history, values, hiring process and more here.

The role

As a Pricing Actuary Contractor for ~3 month contract and we are open to part time ~20 hours a week, you will own the bespoke risk assessment and experience rating for our largest commercial auto accounts in the US market. Working closely with our Pricing Team, you will collaborate closely with our underwriting team to ensure we are pricing complex risks accurately and competitively as we expand into new states. You will dive into imperfect data, analyze loss trends, and significantly upgrade our large account pricing tools.

We are open to candidates working remotely from anywhere in the US or the UK.

What you'll do
  • Drive Large Account Pricing: Deliver bespoke experience rating and pricing for high-value commercial auto submissions (typically $500k+ in premium).

  • Collaborate on Risk: Partner directly with underwriters to evaluate unique risk characteristics and ensure they are accurately reflected in the final price.

  • Upgrade Pricing Tools: Take ownership of our large account pricing template, refining its capabilities and improving the underlying assumptions based on deep-dive analysis.

  • Analyze Loss Trends: Leverage internal data and industry benchmarks to conduct thorough loss trend analyses that inform our strategic direction.

  • Navigate Complex Data: Independently manage, clean, and extract value from data sets that are "not perfect," turning raw information into actionable pricing models.

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Large Account Pricing Experience: You have hands-on experience conducting bespoke risk assessments and experience rating for large commercial accounts (commercial auto or general liability preferred).

  • Data Resilience: You are comfortable working independently with imperfect data—cleaning, prepping, and finding the signal in the noise.

  • Underwriting Collaboration: You have a track record of partnering effectively with underwriters to translate risk into numbers.

  • Advanced Excel: You can build, modify, and improve complex pricing templates.

Nice to have

  • SQL Skills: Experience pulling and querying data using SQL to support your analysis.

  • Note: Actuarial credentials (FCAS/ACAS) are welcome but not strictly required. We are looking for the practical experience of doing the work.

What to expect from the process
  • Screen: A 30-minute call with the Talent team. We'll cover the role, your background, and your questions.

  • First interview: A 45-60 minute interview with Head of Pricing and Underwriting Team Lead focusing on your technical experience with large accounts, how you handle data, and your collaborative approach.

We design this to be a two-way conversation. Come with questions — we want you to leave knowing whether this is the right move for you.

Inclusion and flexibility

INSHUR is committed to building a team where everyone can bring their full self to work. We follow a structured hiring process and train our interview teams to support fairness and reduce bias. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.

This role is advertised as a 3-4 month contract. If you need any adjustments during the process, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate.
