Job description

Job Title: Supply Chain Manager
Job Description
The Supply Chain Manager leads the end-to-end supply chain function, including procurement, materials receiving, inventory management, and planning activities that support production. This role establishes and enforces robust procedures, ensures compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements, and uses data-driven decision making to optimize cost, quality, and lead times. The Supply Chain Manager also provides strategic leadership to Buyer/Planner and Materials teams, partners closely with cross-functional departments, and plays a key role in supporting a growing organization's operational and financial goals.
Responsibilities
  • Establish, implement, and ensure compliance with procurement procedures and processes to support production requirements.
  • Oversee Buyer/Planner performance as they source, monitor, and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, quality, and lead times for materials used in the production process.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce procedures for materials receiving, inventory control, and issuance to ensure accurate tracking and timely availability of materials.
  • Lead the Materials department in receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking material consumption, ensuring accurate and timely creation of shop orders to support lot formation planning and contract requirements.
  • Establish and maintain procedures supporting key contract requirements related to the creation, accuracy, and submission of Ammunition Data Cards in applicable U.S. Government information systems.
  • Create processes to ensure compliance with contractual requirements related to materials, including documented competition, use of restricted sources, economic price adjustments, FAR flowdowns, and supplier representations and certifications.
  • Participate in the establishment and ongoing maintenance of MRP business information system processes as the Supply Chain subject matter expert, including demand forecasting, purchase order creation, shop order creation, and inventory record maintenance.
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier List and coordinate with Supplier Quality to ensure adherence to supplier auditing, rating, and performance management processes.
  • Communicate clear job expectations, plans, and development opportunities to Buyer/Planner and Materials personnel, providing coaching and feedback to improve performance and contribution.
  • Monitor, appraise, and enhance the job performance of all direct reports, fostering accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives by identifying second-source or alternate-source opportunities to improve quality, increase material availability, or reduce cost.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Contracting, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Human Resources to align supply chain activities with broader organizational goals.
  • Leverage ERP and data management systems to analyze supply chain performance, drive cost savings, and support informed decision making.
  • Perform other related duties as needed to support the supply chain function and overall business objectives.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading a Supply Chain Department, including responsibility for procurement, inventory/warehouse, and receiving functions.
  • Strong background in ERP and MRP systems, with the ability to use data to make informed supply chain decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory management, procurement, planning, and vendor management.
  • Proven ability to drive cost savings while maintaining or improving quality and service levels.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing Buyer/Planner and Materials teams and improving team performance.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and understand Bills of Materials.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail in managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Experience using MRP/ERP and data management systems to support supply chain operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of government contracting requirements, including familiarity with FAR-related requirements, is a plus.
  • Experience with procedures related to Ammunition Data Cards and working within U.S. Government information systems is beneficial.
  • background in supply chain management within a government or regulated environment is advantageous.
  • Experience maintaining an Approved Supplier List and coordinating with Supplier Quality on auditing and supplier rating processes.
  • Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, including second-source and alternate-source strategies.
  • Comfort working closely with executive leadership and contributing to strategic supply chain and business decisions.
Work Environment
The Supply Chain Manager works in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment where supply chain decisions have a direct impact on company performance and strategic goals. The role involves regular use of ERP/MRP and data management systems, as well as Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The position requires close collaboration with Operations, Contracting, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Human Resources, as well as frequent interaction with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
