SUMMARY
Wound Care Nurse/Treatment Nurse (RN or LPN) plans and delivers professional nursing care to patients with wounds, ostomies, continence concerns, or related issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provides care to patients with compromised skin integrity under the direction of an HCP.
  • Assists the HCP during exams. Documents patient condition, vital statistics, diagnosis, and prescribed treatments.
  • Provides treatments or administers medications as directed and in compliance with established wound or skin care protocol.
  • Work in conjunction with nursing staff to assure all skin alterations are treated.
  • Facilitates, monitors, and evaluate resident plan of care residing in the skilled nursing healthcare setting.
  • Examine residents during resident admission process and ongoing.
  • Conducts assessments using designated format.
  • Advised and effectively communicate the plan of care to nursing staff and ensure that the plan is being followed.

  • Implement and maintain established policies and procedures relative to wound care/treatment.
  • Collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Health Care Team in developing a comprehensive assessment and care plan for assigned residents.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
  • Completes Healthcare Rounds as assigned by Director of Nursing or Administrator.
  • Assists with nursing audits as assigned by Director of Nursing.
  • Must interact courteously, tactfully and politely with managers, co-workers, residents, vendors or associates to preserve productivity and moral.

Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor's or Associates degree in nursing and RN licensure is highly preferred and will consider LPN with Wound Care/Treatment experience. Wound Care certification is strongly preferred and experience working LTC or SNF setting for several years. Experience working with geriatric population as a RN or LPN and must be licensed as a nurse with North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Work Schedule
One Full Time position available, Day Shift Hours 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Some additional hours in the evenings, weekends and holidays may be required to meet the business demands of the position.
