What you'll do
  • Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment such as; wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
  • Safely operate mechanized equipment such as; bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, and more
  • Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
  • Flag traffic when required
  • Understand separation and clearance regulations
  • Safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies.

What you'll need
    • To be 18 years of age or older
    • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
    • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
    • Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
    • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
    • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
    • May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
    • May include working nights and holidays as needed.
    • May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements.
    • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.

    Additional qualifications
    • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
    • Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques
    • You are able to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
    • You are able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as; pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction)
    • You are able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance.
    • Must know the color code system for cable pairs or be willing to lear
    • Ability to work in confined spaces
    • Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work with internal and external customers
    • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with product vendors and customers.

Pay Range: The Lineman I Telecom hourly wage range is $25.00 - $30.00 depending on experience.
