Job description

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
    • Responsible for the technical (i.e. systems) management of daily work processes. Systems include SSI, Payerpath claims editing system, from translation of claims through balancing, working with the SSI/Payerpath Group’s staff as needed to support and troubleshoot claim submissions. Responsible for maintaining and developing reports for Patient Accounting in the Meditech and Allscripts system as needed. Works autonomously with staff to address and direct SSI, Payerpath billing issues. Works closely with IT to ensure daily payment and claim files are submitted and received. When necessary seeks input from department Managers and/or Director. Maintain written and verbal communications with the hospital billing staff and management as well as other Berkshire Health Systems departments. Reviews, modifies and implements policies and procedures that affect the claims editing and billing cycles. Educates staff on changes and updates to systems as they need to know. Attends educational workshops related to job duties as needed.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • Experience – 2 years technical experience with a majority of the following systems: Meditech, Allscripts, SSI, Payerpath,Rycan, Microsoft Excel (use of spreadsheets) and Microsoft Word required.
      • Experience with FoxPro database preferred.
    • Education and Training:
      • Level of knowledge equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in a Computer related discipline.
      • Demonstrated experience as a computer technician in a hospital billing environment preferred.
    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • N/A
    • Other Requirements:
      • Must have knowledge of personal computers and personal computer software application packages and development products.
      • Must have the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and effectively with vendors and BHS MIS personnel.
      • Must have the ability to train and provide support to department staff in the use of computer products.
      • Must possess the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and rationally and work under deadline pressures.
      • Must be willing to accept additional responsibilities/duties as position requires.
      • Must be self-motivated and able to work with a lot of autonomy, possessing skills in problem solving and decision making.
      • Ability to troubleshoot/maintain proper operation of business equipment preferred.
      • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal relationship skills are required.
