Responsibilities
  • Assists Engineers by conducting research, performing investigations, and deriving data from measurements
  • Makes preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Participates in bench-, pilot-, and full-scale applied R&D projects.
  • Adjusts and correlates data and recognizes discrepancies in results.
  • Using prescribed methods, performs specific portions of a broader assignment.
  • Participates in applied research related to water, wastewater, and reuse.
  • Work with the Technical Practice and Subject Matter Experts to identify and develop applied R&D opportunities.
  • Identify innovative treatment concepts for testing at Carollo's Applied Research Center.
  • Assists with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables.
  • Develop and grow network of water industry leaders as a technical resource and for teaming opportunities.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or related discipline. PhD preferred.
  • 2-5 years of directly-relevant experience in water-related research.
  • Experience pursuing and managing R&D projects for organizations such as the Water Research Foundation (WRF), US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the National Alliance for Water Innovation (NAWI).
  • Knowledge of reuse, drinking water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Experience conducting applied research on treatment, monitoring, or source investigation.
  • Experience conducting or analyzing pilot- and bench-scale treatment testing.
  • Application of engineering principles including critical thinking, analysis, statistics, and innovative techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with groups and individuals at all levels in an organization
  • Highly motivated, creative, articulate, and self-starting.

Compensation Range
$XX,XXX to $XX,XXX annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
