The Senior Financial Analyst, Americas Strategic Finance & Reporting will serve as a strategic finance business partner supporting key financial, compensation, profitability, rates benchmarking, budgeting, forecasting, and leadership reporting initiatives across the Americas Alliance, including North America and Latin America. This position is responsible for delivering financial analyses, actionable insights, and executive-ready reporting that inform Finance leadership, Talent Management, Partner Recruiting, Regional Practice Group leadership, Office leadership, and Compensation Committees. This role supports several of the Americas Alliance's most visible and strategically important financial processes and serves as a key partner to Finance leadership, Practice Group leadership, Talent Management, and Partner Recruiting on critical business and compensation-related matters. The successful candidate is expected to operate as a trusted business advisor, going beyond the preparation of data to identify trends, evaluate business impacts, develop recommendations, and communicate complex financial information in a clear and meaningful way to both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders. The successful candidate is expected to analyze significant amounts of data and key performance indicators to provide meaningful interpretation, business context, and recommendations in addition to financial reporting and analysis.

Main responsibilities:

Strategic financial analysis and advisory support:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial analyses, models, planning tools, and strategic decision-support solutions related to revenue, profitability, compensation, rate setting, and other key business initiatives across the Americas Alliance
  • Prepare financial models, scenario analyses, projections, and business cases to support leadership decision-making, including partner performance evaluations, principal compensation committee support, and cost rate or related profit analyses
  • Analyze information from multiple data sources, including ERP and general ledger data where appropriate, and communicate findings, trends, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner
  • Partner with Finance leadership, Talent Management, Partner Recruiting, Practice Group leadership, and Office leadership to support strategic initiatives and business planning priorities across the Americas Alliance
  • Serve as a trusted Finance advisor by providing interpretation, context, and recommendations in addition to financial data
  • Serve as the primary owner or subject matter expert for assigned recurring annual and periodic Finance processes, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately, consistently, and within established timelines while driving continuous improvement, documentation, and stakeholder support

Reporting, dashboards, and executive-ready insights

  • Design, build, maintain, and enhance custom reports, dashboards, scorecards, templates, and analytical models using multiple sources of data
  • Prepare executive-ready reporting, presentations, dashboards, and financial commentary for Finance leadership, Practice Group leadership, Office leadership, Compensation Committees, and other senior stakeholders
  • Develop written financial commentary, including recurring monthly and periodic management reporting narratives, that clearly communicate key performance drivers, emerging trends, risks, opportunities, and business implications for a variety of stakeholders
  • Understand and further develop standard reporting portals, monthly management reports, KPIs, utilization reporting, inventory reporting, and accompanying insights
  • Review standard reports and source data to research discrepancies, validate data sources, identify anomalies, and ensure accuracy before distribution

Compensation, profitability, rates benchmarking, and financial planning support:

  • Support annual billing rate and pricing processes, including market analysis, competitive benchmarking, market data evaluation, rate templates, stakeholder input, financial impact analysis, leadership materials, and follow-up inquiries
  • Support compensation-related processes, including profitability analyses, historical financial reporting, candidate evaluations, compensation committee support, and related decision-making activities
  • Prepare historical financial and performance data for partner, principal, national partner, director economist, counsel, associate, and other timekeeper compensation or review processes
  • Support principal candidate, lateral candidate, and group recruiting analyses, including pro formas, projections, cash flow statements, profitability analyses, and other business case materials
  • Prepare compensation and benefits analyses for forecasting and planning cycles, including timekeeper-level assumptions, scenario analysis, and supporting documentation
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, including development of assumptions, variance analysis, scenario modeling, and leadership reporting

Process improvement, automation, and stakeholder support:

  • Apply expert-level Excel skills to streamline financial models, automate recurring work, validate large data sets, and develop scalable analysis tools using advanced formulas, structured templates, PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, and, where appropriate, VBA or macros
  • Demonstrate willingness to adopt and responsibly use approved AI-enabled tools, including Microsoft Copilot, and other emerging technologies to enhance business processes, reporting efficiency, analytical insight, and decision support
  • Provide support, training, maintenance, and documentation for custom reports, dashboards, templates, procedures, and analytical tools used by end users.
  • Understand and improve internal processes, data structures, templates, databases, and recurring deliverables to reduce manual effort and improve quality control
  • Assist with Global Firm, North America, Latin America, and Americas Alliance initiatives, including management reporting, partner compensation, profitability, and other high-priority areas
  • Liaise directly with management, partners, practice groups, Talent Management, Partner Recruiting, Finance colleagues, and other business areas to provide financial support
  • Fulfill approved ad hoc requests and special projects that vary in scope, complexity, and time commitment

Skills and experience:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • Expert-level Excel skills are required, including advanced formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, structured models, scenario analysis, data validation, reconciliation of large data sets, and the ability to create scalable, reviewable, and well-documented workbooks. Experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting VBA/macros is required
  • Significant relevant experience in financial analysis, FP&A, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, strategic finance, compensation analytics, or finance business partnering; law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP and general ledger data, including ability to analyze transaction-level financial information, investigate variances, reconcile data to source systems, and translate system data into meaningful business insights
  • Experience supporting compensation analytics, profitability analysis, FP&A, pricing, market analysis, competitive benchmarking, budgeting, forecasting or strategic business decision support within a professional services environment preferred
  • Experience utilizing reporting, visualization, and data analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL, Power Query, Power Pivot, and related technologies to develop scalable analytical solutions
  • Willingness and ability to use approved AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve productivity, automate or enhance business processes, and strengthen analysis, reporting, and stakeholder support
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with proven ability to develop and convey comprehensive financial information and analysis relative to business operations and strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts and analyses effectively to both Finance and non-Finance audiences
  • Experience managing recurring deliverables and coordinating with multiple stakeholders across regions, functions, and leadership levels
  • Comfortable analyzing, reconciling, and manipulating large and complex data sets from multiple sources
  • Knowledge of financial systems and reporting platforms; SAP experience preferred.
  • Ability to prepare clear written commentary, polished presentations, and executive-ready materials for leadership audiences
