Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Health System Clinician at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor for the role of Attending Physician in the Division of Allergy & Clinical Immunology.
Responsibilities include excellence in delivery of care, education, and advocacy. The provider who is hired in this role will be responsible for clinical care in the outpatient setting, at primarily satellite locations in Chicago and the surrounding areas with an estimated clinic number of 8 half day clinics per week. While the division provides consultative services at the hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, this will not be part of the duties of the HSC track appointed physician. Involvement in informal teaching of the fellow who may interact with the health systems clinician as part of clinical care is expected. Participation in Division meetings is also expected as part of the duties of all attending physicians who work within the Division. Qualified candidates will possess a DO or MD degree, be BC/BE in Pediatric Allergy & Immunology and a medical license, or eligibility for, in the State of Illinois. The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled.
The Division of allergy and Immunology currently includes 13 faculty members, 4 nurse practitioners, and 7 research staff (including 4 research nurses). The division provides both general allergy care, and also provides coordinated care for children with complex presentations of diseases including primary immunodeficiency, immune-rheumatology, immune-hematology, and participates in other multispecialty programs including DiGeorge clinic and the severe asthma clinic. Additionally, members of the division are actively involved in NIH funded research in asthma, food allergy and primary immunodeficiency. The Division of Allergy and Immunology also hosts a Jeffrey Modell Center for Primary Immunodeficiency. The division currently provides fellowship education with one pediatric allergy fellow per year, who is part of the combined fellowship program with Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine Division of Allergy and Immunology fellowship program. There is a robust collegial environment with support, interaction, and meetings among Division members in educational, research, and clinical activities. This includes Allergy/Immunology specific weekly clinical rounds, immunology chart rounds, as well as research rounds in collaboration with Northwestern.

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (Lurie Children's Hospital) is a free-standing children's hospital located just off the magnificent mile and Lake Michigan, and adjacent to the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine campus. It has more than 1,100 pediatric specialists focusing on 70 specialties in multiple locations and routinely provides care to more young people than any other Chicago-area hospital or medical center. K.S.A.'s:
- Doctorate in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine with specialization in pediatrics.
- Valid licenses for State of Illinois.

Job Duties:
- Conduct regular thorough examinations on newborns and children to check and record their physical and mental development.
- Examine sick children to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information about symptoms.
- Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history.
- Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration.
- Diagnosis, treatment and screening of mental health illness in pediatric population.
- Prescribe and interpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information for possible infections or abnormalities.
- Consult with fellow pediatric partners and nurses on best practices.
- Examine and treat injuries; refer to physicians of other specialties when necessary (e.g. surgeons, ophthalmologists, orthopedists etc.).
- Advise parents on children's diet, exercise and disease preventive measures. Emphasis on early detection and prevention.
- Advise parents on treatment plans, and be able to provide information on both current guideline-based care and novel therapies.
- Maintain updated records of patients' illnesses, surgeries or other medical episodes (allergic shocks, injuries etc.).
- Advocate for patients, families, and fellow staff members.
- Keep abreast of advancements in pediatrics and best practices by attending seminars and conferences.
