Job description

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking aMarina Managerto support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
TheMarina Manageris responsible for overseeing all operations and activities at the marina, ensuring safe and effective operations while providing exceptional customer service. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directing and coordinating all marina operations, including equipment rentals, recreational boating activities, and facility management.
  • Acting as an instructor/trainer insmall craft handling (sail and power)and serving as abasic sailing instructor.
  • Maintaining compliance with safety standards, while ensuring the marina staff and patrons are aware of and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Developing and implementing programs to promote boating safety, facilitate smooth marina operations, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Monitoring maintenance and inspections for all marina equipment, small craft, and facilities to maintain operational readiness.
  • Organizing and supervising basic and advanced training in small craft handling for both patrons and marina staff.
  • Conducting emergency response activities, ensuring preparedness to address contingencies or emergencies within one hour of notification.
  • Providing excellent customer service, including handling patron inquiries and resolving concerns promptly.
  • Preparing reports and maintaining required documentation for all marina operations, including inventory, activity logs, and compliance records.
  • Supervising marina staff, providing leadership, training, and development to ensure operational success.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum offive (5) years of satisfactory experience as a marina supervisor, preferably withinMWR programs in the U.S. Navy.
  • Certification or ability to obtain certification as:
    • Instructor/Trainer in small craft handling (sail and power).
    • Basic sailing instructor.
    • CPR, AED, and First Aid certified.
  • Strong customer service skills and communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage team operations in a high-paced and customer-oriented environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; higher education in a relevant field is desirable.
  • Must be readily available during regular working hours and able to respond on-sitewithin one hour for contingencies/emergencies.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for at least one (1) year at the time of hire.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience managing a recreational boating facility, marina, or similar operation, especially in austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environments.
  • Prior training or certifications in marine activities or operations related to the U.S. Navy.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing and maintaining small craft fleets, including scheduling maintenance and ensuring safety compliance.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Each employee is expected to complete all required training, fulfill all self-aid/buddy-aid responsibilities, participate in emergency response tasks, and serve on safety committees or teams as applicable.
