Position: ESB Test Lead
Location: SFO-CA Hybrid- two days per week
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced ESB Test Lead to own quality assurance for enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware services, and event-driven workflows. The role combines hands-on test automation with technical leadership, onsite/offshore delivery coordination, and clear communication across product, project, business, and engineering stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end test strategy, planning, estimation, execution, and release-readiness activities for ESB and integration platforms.
- Validate APIs, web services, message flows, data transformations, routing, exception handling, and downstream system integrations.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Lead functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, negative, and production-validation testing.
- Coordinate onsite and offshore QA teams to deliver sprint commitments across test planning, execution, automation, defect management, and reporting.
- Manage defects, dependencies, test status, quality metrics, and risks; provide clear release recommendations to stakeholders.
- Partner with product owners, project managers, architects, developers, business teams, and support teams to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Drive test automation within CI/CD pipelines and continuously improve coverage, reliability, traceability, and testing efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software testing experience, including proven experience leading complex integration-testing initiatives.
- Strong hands-on experience testing ESB, middleware, APIs, microservices, and distributed system integrations.
- Hands-on expertise with Playwright and TypeScript, including framework design, test maintenance, and debugging.
- Experience with one or more enterprise integration platforms such as MuleSoft, IBM App Connect/Integration Bus, TIBCO, Boomi, or a comparable ESB platform.
- Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP services, JSON, XML, message queues, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing.
- Proficiency with API-testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, REST Assured, or comparable tools.
- Strong SQL skills with experience in backend data validation, log analysis, and root-cause investigation.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery, sprint planning, defect management, test metrics, and release processes.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate onsite/offshore QA teams in a fast-paced delivery environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with product, project, business, and technical stakeholders.
- Must be available to work onsite in San Francisco two days per week.
