Job description

As part of the Fraud Analytics & Modeling organization, this role will strategically develop and deploy fraud prevention rules while performing on-going performance monitoring and optimization support for the Citi Retail Services portfolio. This role requires a strategic professional who leverages data to identify fraud trends, designing and implementing strategies to prevent and mitigate fraud attacks across the fraud lifecycle, including application and synthetic ID fraud, account takeover and sophisticated new attack schemes. This role collaborates with the Fraud Retail Bank and Branded Cards teams to develop and implement our Digital Analytics Machine Learning based score-centric strategy approach to capturing fraud.

This role partners closely with Fraud Policy, Operations, Financial Threats, and other various business partners including Technology to drive strategy and determine potential and existing fraud impacts. Excellent communication skills are required to successfully partner and negotiate internally, while guiding, and modeling junior team members to adopt a balanced rule development mindset. Responsibilities: Owns and manages fraud rules, scores, and detection strategies, Risk appetite execution, POS interdiction strategies and defect analysis.

Responsible for documenting data requirements, collection, processing, cleaning, and exploratory data analysis utilizing statistical models, algorithms, and data visualization techniques. Conducts exploratory, confirmatory, and qualitative data analysis to identify patterns & trends. Provides insights to enhance business decision making capability in strategy planning, process improvement, solution assessment.

Translate data into consumer or customer behavioral insights to drive targeting and segmentation strategies, and communicate clearly and effectively to business partners and senior leaders all findings Leads strategic technical rule writing to deliver tangible business benefit and value such as loss avoidance, expense optimization, and enhanced customer experience. Recommends actions for future developments & strategic business opportunities, as well as enhancements to operational policies Introduce cutting-edge techniques via new tools and usage of data/information; continually ensure processes are optimized to enable rapid decisioning with long-term sustainability Continually assess manual and automated processes to identify potential process gaps and opportunities. Build effective relationships within and outside the Fraud organization to help ensure successful and timely building, implementing, tracking and improving decision strategies.

Collaborate with cross-functional partners and management to define strategies that balance risk and return; holds self, seniors and peers accountable to openly debate the best possible solutions. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. Qualifications: 8+ years in fraud or risk management; experience in analytics and modeling or relevant area preferable.

Extensive experience working with Big Data environment, coding within various traditional (SAS, SQL, etc.) and/or open source (i.e. Python, Impala, Hive, etc.) tools, and advanced machine learning techniques. Traditional and advanced machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as Logistic Regression, Gradient Boosting, Random Forests, etc

Data visualization tools, such as Tableau Excellent quantitative and analytic skills; ability to derive patterns, trends and insights, and perform risk/reward trade-off analysis. Deliver compelling presentations and influence executive audiences. Excellent communicator; ability to engage and inspire team forward.

Effective coaching, mentoring and talent development skills; ability to identify development areas, provide sound feedback, and guide employees to action. Education: Bachelor's Degree required in statistics, mathematics, physics, economics, or other analytical or quantitative discipline. Master's Degree or PhD preferred.
