Position Title:  Director, Albertus Magnus College Chorus - PT 
Reporting To:  Special Assistant to the President for Mission and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty

Position Summary: 
Albertus Magnus College invites applications for a part-time chorus director to foster a vibrant, student-centered musical community. The successful applicant will teach and coordinate the instruction of the 1-credit hour courses MU122 – Chorus I and MU123 – Chorus II.  In addition, they will also anchor the College’s liturgical and community-focused musical traditions. This position begins in August 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
The Director will be responsible for a range of academic, liturgical, and community-focused duties, including:

  • Ensemble & Performance Lead: Teach MU 122 and MU123 (Chorus I & II) and prepare the chorus for at least one major concert per academic year; piano skills for rehearsals and/or performances.
  • Student Recruitment & Mentorship: Recruit students for the chorus, develop outreach initiatives to engage musically inclined students, and train student cantors and soloists.
  • Liturgical Music Coordination: Attend Liturgy Planning meetings and collaborate with the Office of Dominican Mission and Ministries to coordinate music for campus liturgies and special events; knowledge or desire to learn Catholic liturgical practices.
  • Community Engagement: Conduct musical outreach with local organizations, including schools and nursing homes.
  • Departmental Collaboration: Partner with the Department of Arts and college administration to expand skill-development opportunities for vocal and instrumental students.

Qualifications and Education:

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a music-related field; 
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Associate Director or Director of a choir or chorus and an ability to introduce students to a wide range of musical genres are preferred.
  • Evidence of experience in teaching Music and Chorus at the secondary and/or post-secondary level
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong organizational, collaboration, and communication skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to Albertus Magnus College's mission and student success. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, internet applications, and the ability to quickly learn and utilize institutional, department-specific, and learning management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Ability to interpret written and verbal instructions, work independently and collaboratively, and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Work Schedule Requirements
This is an in-person position with some evening events scheduled.
