Overview:
Sentara RMH Wellness Center is hiring a Swim Instructor
The Swim Instructor has thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming techniques, skills and water safety. The Swim Instructor is committed to the safety of members of all ages and abilities and to providing a fun and positive learning experience. They provide private and group swim lessons based on the guidelines of the American Red Cross and as deemed appropriate by the Aquatics Coordinator.
Education
  • No specific education requirements

Certification/Licensure
  • ARC Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or YMCA Swim Instructor (Required)
  • AHA BLS certification - within 90 days of employment (Required)

Experience
  • Completion of SRMH swim instructor training within the first 30-days of employment (Required)
  • Swim instructor experience - 1yr (Preferred)
  • Ability to teach and encourage swimmers via positive reinforcement (Required)
  • Ability to demonstrate basic swim techniques (Required)
  • Ability to remain in the water over extended periods of time (temperature ranges from 82 degrees to 94 degrees) (Required)
