Position Summary
The Engineer I position is an entry-level engineering role requiring 0 to 5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering discipline. This role is responsible for applying engineering principles, design criteria, industry standards, and software applications to support the design and construction of power-related systems.
The Engineer I supports project planning, cost estimation, design development, and construction activities. The position also provides guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews of contractor-developed designs, cost estimates, and construction packages to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment by consistently prioritizing safety in all activities.
- Adhere to company, regulatory, and industry safety standards and procedures.
Engineering & Design Support
- Apply engineering processes, design criteria, and software tools in the design and construction of power-related systems.
- Support the preparation of project estimates, development of design alternatives, and creation of construction specifications.
- Review and evaluate contractor-developed design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages for quality and compliance.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of design standards and engineering criteria for system improvements.
Project Execution & Coordination
- Understand and support the processes associated with planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with internal departments involved in engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance.
- Support construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations and project execution.
- Estimate material requirements and support procurement activities for assigned projects.
- Prepare and transmit construction packages and supporting technical documentation.
Technical Knowledge
- Develop an understanding of company and industry design standards, engineering practices, and work processes.
- Utilize engineering and design software applications effectively to support assigned work.
- Gain working knowledge of the functions, responsibilities, and activities of departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 0 to 5 years of related engineering experience.
- Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Basic problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with established procedures, with guidance and review from supervisors as needed.
- Basic proficiency in discipline-specific engineering software and applications.
