Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Windshield Engineer to support the design, development, certification, manufacturing, and repair of aircraft transparent systems, including cockpit windshields, side windows, and cabin windows. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in aerospace materials, structural analysis, certification standards, and aircraft transparency systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, analyze, and test aircraft windshield and window systems using CAD tools.

  • Optimize transparency designs for structural integrity, optical performance, durability, and weight reduction.

  • Select and evaluate materials such as laminated glass, acrylic, and polycarbonate for aerospace applications.

  • Support lamination, bonding, coating, heating, and fabrication processes.

  • Perform structural, thermal, and impact analysis including bird strike and pressure load evaluations using FEA tools.

  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and aerospace industry standards related to aircraft transparency systems.

  • Prepare engineering documentation, technical reports, drawings, and certification support data.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to improve fabrication, tooling, and inspection processes.

  • Develop repair procedures for issues such as delamination, cracking, scratches, and heating element failures.

  • Provide technical guidance during design reviews, troubleshooting, and manufacturing support activities.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience working with aircraft structures, aerospace transparencies, or laminated glass systems.

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft windshield/window systems and aerospace manufacturing processes.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.

  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and aerospace certification requirements.

  • Understanding of:

    • Bird strike analysis

    • Thermal and stress analysis

    • Anti-ice/heated windshield systems

    • Optical coatings and acrylic bonding technologies

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting FAA/PMA certification programs.

  • Aerospace OEM, MRO, or aircraft component manufacturing experience.

  • Knowledge of ATA Chapter 56 or related aerospace transparency standards.

Work Environment
