Job description

Job Title: Lead, Structural Engineering - ODA Unit Member

Job Code: 40875

Job Location: Greenville, TX (On-site)

Job Schedule: 1st Shift 9/80

Job Description: 

The ODA Engineering Unit Member will be responsible for reviewing and approving aircraft modification engineering and repairs on behalf of the FAA. An extensive background in aircraft structural analysis and exposure to a wide range of aircraft structural modifications is required.  Current FAA delegations, either through an ODA or as an FAA DER.

Essential Functions: 

  • Technical approval of structural aspects of aircraft modification and repairs, including drawings and substantiation reports.
  • Coordinating certification activities with other structures Unit Members, other disciplines in the certification team, and with the engineering organizations seeking certification.
  • Reviewing engineering drawings and reports to determine compliance with applicable criteria, including coordination with engineering to address deficiencies.
  • FAA delegations in the structures discipline as either a DER or an ODA Unit Member. 
  • Must be able to travel as required. (estimated 10% or less)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to work overtime as required. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with nine (9) years of Aerospace Structural and/or Stress analysis experience.
  • Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of Aerospace Structural and/or Stress analysis experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of Aerospace Structural and/or Stress analysis experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Metallic and composite structure experience.
  • Civil certification and military certification experience.
  • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
