Job Description:

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Quality Conformance Manager I to join our team based in Mobile, AL.

In this role, you will administer the on-going development of the Quality Management System. Investigate specific quality issues arising from system failures or design deficiencies in order to reduce the cost of non-quality and foster continuous improvement. Their mission is to support quality on time and on cost delivery by delivering right first time to increase customer loyalty and satisfaction.

This position involves the resolution of complex quality issues and continuous improvement projects by setting the measurement standards and improvements to increase the performance, reliability and repeatability of processes in order to meet the regulatory, company and customer requirements.

Your Challenges:

Quality Management System Support: 60%

  • Demonstrate creativity, propose and implement innovations using lean methodologies, data analytic and mining techniques to ensure that top company objectives are met

  • Analyze non-conformities, aircraft logbook, audit findings and operational surveillance to initiate appropriate corrective actions to avoid recurrence

  • Define and Improve the Quality Processes within Airbus by identifying cost of non-quality drivers and improving processes to reduce defects

  • Generate key performance indicator reports to measure quality performance and communicate to management team

  • Support inspection personnel when issues arise in order to determine root cause and corrective action

  • Develop dashboards and visual management tools necessary to identify deficiencies in the quality system

  • Create statistical data for non-conformities, key performance indicators and other quality metrics to identify trends

  • Establish a digital platform for the collection, monitoring and archiving of FOD, lost tool and lost item reports

  • Interact with various collaborators to establish feedback monitoring, identify trends and highlight opportunities for improvement

  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly performance reports

  • Review and recommend updates to company manuals, policies, procedures and forms

  • Implement and monitor control plans, inspection plans, industrial qualification, calibration and metrology monitoring to ensure that quality standards are achieved

  • Monitor the qualification of new personnel through the predefined requirements process

  • Introduce and qualify new tools and jigs into the process flow

  • Perform operational surveillance to monitor the compliance to regulatory and company standard requirements

  • Be a multi-functional team member to perform impact analysis for out of tolerance calibration reports, tooling and potential escapes due to process deficiencies

  • Participate in periodical meetings with quality, supporting departments, and design office personnel

Continuous Improvement: 25%

  • Utilize plan do check act, 5 why, fishbone analysis, kaizen events and other root cause analysis tools to drive continuous improvement

  • Identify improvement opportunities, define and implement corrective action plans through a Multi Functional Team approach

  • Create quality flash alerts to increase awareness of issues and prevent recurrence

  • Facilitate Practical Problem Solving activities

  • Review audit reports, findings, operational surveillance, personnel qualification records, calibration records, jigs and tool data to identify negative trends and implement corrective action

  • Identify and implement changes in work conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency, safety and quality of the department, personnel and product

  • Utilize look across and lessons learned methodology to identify and mitigate risks

  • Apply lean principles to drive the improvement and efficiency of the process flow

  • Utilize active listening and customer service skills to interact with team members and follow through with proposals and corrective actions

Compliance: 15%

  • Implement and monitor aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) including compliance to all applicable regulatory (EASA, FAA), standards (EN9100/9110, APQP, PFMEA), policies, directives, processes and methods

  • Perform operation surveillance to measure the compliance of regulations, standards and company processes

  • Ensure adherence to service level agreements

  • Support internal and external audits and follow up activities

  • Ensure validation and surveillance of special processes utilized

  • Validate the implementation of customer and type design holder requirements in the quality management system

Additional Responsibilities:

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in the fields of technology, aviation, engineering, business, manufacturing or equivalent experience

  • 3 years in aviation quality, industrial or manufacturing engineering, data analytics, business administration, manufacturing, maintenance related field

  • Knowledge of topics key to Quality, i.e. pro-active prevention and continuous improvement, APQP, core tools (Quality Gates, CI's/KT's, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, PPS), Q6, CNQ, workmanship and FOD prevention

  • Good Knowledge about non-conformance management and Root Cause Analysis methods

  • Knowledge of EASA/FAA Regulations

  • Strong and effective Practical Problem Solving skills (demonstrable)

  • Understanding of Kaizen approach to Manufacturing

  • Customer service oriented and attention to detail

  • Active listening skills necessary to the success of teamwork

  • Ability to adapt in changing environments
