Job description

Classification Description

Repairs, maintains, and inspects aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment under the technical direction of an Aircraft Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic (Senior) or Lead. Removes and installs aircraft components. Conducts functional tests of repaired components and systems. Special certifications may be required. May be required to adjust, align, and rig aircraft systems. May be required to perform aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations. Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair. May be required to perform crash recovery duties. Required to perform assigned tasks within your work center that directly supports necessary functions of this job classification.

Specialty Qualifications

a. Knowledge. Knowledge of the principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives and data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory. Knowledge of Air Force supply and deficiency reporting procedures and the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory. Knowledge of MIS (CAMS/IMDS) and desktop computer operations and use is mandatory. Must have working knowledge of Air Force supply procedures to look up, place orders, receive and maintain parts and materials to complete assigned work.

b. Education. Completion of high school with courses in mathematics is desirable. Completion of a basic applicable aircraft maintenance course is mandatory.

c. Experience. Qualification as Aircraft Worker is mandatory. A minimum of three years of performing functions, such as installing, inspecting, repairing or overhauling aircraft structures, systems, and components, is mandatory.

Special Certifications and Qualifications required for position

Must have held a 2A6X4 (Fuels) Air Force Specialty Code or civilian/sister service equivalent. Must have a minimum a minimum four (4) years documented experience, preferably within the last ten (10) years, on F-15s and/or F-16s. SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED.
