Altus Technology Solutions, LLC has an immediate opening for a Range Control Officer (RCO) to support a government customer in the Avon Park, FL area.

The Range Control Officer (RCO) will:

  • Operate from the Control Tower. This critical position is responsible for the safe, compliant, and precise control of all flight and ground activities during range operations.
  • The RCO shall enforce established procedures and delivery minimums, maintain operational integrity of air ground weapons-fire missions, and ensure the prevention of unsafe practices through strict supervision of all range operations and associated ground support.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for matters involving Joint Terminal Attack Control, Joint Close Air Support, Joint Combat Search and Rescue, Joint Command and Control, and Joint Special Operations, Joint Readiness Exercises, multi-lateral exercises, and other military exercises as required.
  • Plan conferences, conduct and coordinate airspace and range scheduling, oversee facility use requirements, manage logistics requirements, assist with mission planning, scenario development and site surveys. Monitor mission execution and resolve issues that impede progress and/or interfere with expected outcomes.
  • Lead in matters pertaining to training exercises involving the Range Squadron Air/Ground Training complex to include monitoring and controlling safe range operations.
  • Conduct/attend after action reviews and evaluates, coordinates, analyzes, monitors, and follows up on corrective recommendations
  • Attend all United States Air Force-required training for each program and maintain current, qualified status in accordance with applicable Air Force instructions. Develop and maintain a continuity book for each program, and input, extract, analyze and present data reports from all relevant information systems and sources.

Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of DoD, DAF, DA, ACC, AFSOC, USASOC missions, organizations, organizational structures and their functional interrelationships, and the laws, regulations, policies, precedents, and procedures in order to perform mission planning and analysis and to serve as lead oversight agent of 598th Range Squadron (ACC) Air/Ground Training Complex training and exercises.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of range and airspace scheduling and coordinating issues related to Military Operations Areas, Restricted Areas, and Ranges.
  • Expert knowledge of pertinent range operations policies, directives, and products and applicable operational methods and processes. Ability to perform duties in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing for conducting conferences, presenting briefings, preparing correspondence, and writing findings and reports.
  • Requires a technically proficient professional with broad knowledge of USAF computer systems, capable of building and managing advanced Excel, Word, and PDF products, and demonstrating strong mission-focused skill in interpreting maps, terrain, and geographic data to support operational planning.
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and patience in order to present sensitive recommendations to affected elements or higher authorities, MAJCOMs, and other Federal agencies.
  • Some duties will require several hours in remote areas in field conditions
  • Must be able to travel frequently.
  • Must be able to climb six flights of stairs.
Education/Experience Required:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Military experience in one of the following, rated aircrew, Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), Air Battle Manager (ABM), Enlisted Terminal Attack Controller (ETAC) or Air Traffic Controller (ATC).
  • Military or civilian experience in the management, supervision or control of air operations on a conventional or tactical military range.
Security Requirements:
  • Valid State Drivers License
  • Current U.S. DoD Security Clearance at the SECRET level or higher ( Clearance must be maintained throughout employment)
