Job description

Experienced and Senior Software Engineers

Company:

The Boeing Company is currently seeking Experienced and Senior Software Engineers to join the KC-46 Tanker Mission Systems Software team located in Tukwila, WA, within the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) organization.

The Mission System Software team supports US Air Force and international KC-46 Tanker customers and other platforms, providing integrated hardware and software solutions that provide tactical situational awareness to the flight crew and aircraft network systems. The latter enables net-centric applications and beyond line-of-sight communication for the warfighter via secure and non-secure ground networks during KC-46 aerial refueling missions.

This position will include a variety of software development assignments, such as new capability development, delivered capability upgrades, defect correction, and proof-of-concept prototyping via Independent Research and Development (IR&D) activities.

The successful candidate enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction, quality and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-project environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.

  • Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products.

  • Develops, maintains, enhances and optimizes software products and functionalities for systems integrations.

  • Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products.

  • Debugs and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.

  • Handles user inquiries, troubleshoots technical issues and user feedback analysis.

  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development.

  • Develops, establishes, monitors and improves software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.

  • Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects.

  • Advises on software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or other technical degree

  • Experience with Linux development environments

  • 5 plus years' professional experience programming in C++ or Java for Mid-Level

  • 9 plus years' professional experience programming in C++ or Java for Senior-Level

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash, Perl)

  • Experience with network architecture design

  • Experience with User Interface design

  • Experience with DevSecOps and Cloud Computing

  • Experience with DO-178 and/or Military Airworthiness certification

  • Experience with bus communications and protocols including Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553 and/or ARINC 429

  • Experience with Link16

  • Experience with open architecture constructs like Open Mission Systems (OMS)

  • Experience with Cyber Security and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) application

  • Experience with Hardware and Software Systems Integration
