DESCRIPTION
Is it your calling to serve our Nation's Heroes? Avosys is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide services to the military and their families at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona.

TITLE: Psychiatrist
LOCATION: Davis-Monthan Air Force Base - Tucson, AZ 85756
HOURS: Monday through Friday - 9-hour shifts including 1-hour unpaid meal breaks between the hours of 6am to 6pm.
SUMMARY:
Provide psychiatric treatment services to military members, their families and retirees at a Military Treatment Facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of residency or fellowship in psychiatry acceptable to the Surgeon general, Headquarters United States Air Force.
  • Board Certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience within the last 3 years.
  • English language proficiency: must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively without speech impediment.
  • Demonstrate basic writing skills.
  • No record of emotional instability, personality disorder, unresolved mental health problems or substance abuse concerns.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge/previous application of the DSM (most recent edition).
  • Knowledge of standardized psychological assessments and Evidence based psychotherapeutic interventions (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, RET, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently, productively and accurately with minimal supervision. Aptitude to multi-task and thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment along with excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to a diverse patient and staff.
  • Ability to effectively/efficiently use computer systems and ancillary programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other programs as required. Accuracy with typing and spelling, accurate data entry skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primarily responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treatment planning, and behavioral health treatment.
  • Examine, evaluate, diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders.
  • Obtain and evaluate data through interview techniques.
  • Prepare and review case histories.
  • Prescribe and evaluate effectiveness of a wide range of therapeutic measures.
  • Recommend disposition of psychiatric cases.
  • Serve as medical and psychiatric consultant to clinical psychologists, clinical social workers and others as required.
  • Advise on kind and quantity of psychiatric supplies and equipment.
  • Active member of multi-disciplinary team.
  • Coordinate direct patient care with outside facilities and command.
  • Perform medical exams, reviews, and conduct appropriate military specific documentation such as, but not limited to, narrative medical summaries for Medical Evaluation Boards, medical profiles, and quarters authorization following military specific policies.
  • Contribute to the training experience of mental health technicians.
  • Maintain accurate and current notes in both the Mental Health records and patient records of all patients seen.
  • Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities and military commands as appropriate.

Job responsibilities are subject to change to meet Military Treatment Facility requirements. Additional immunization record, security and background check requirements are also considered as qualifying criteria.
