Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Maintenance HVAC Technician - Level 2 to join our team in Chandler, AZ. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
This hands-on position requires knowledge and experience in multiple crafts fields.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Your mission, should you choose to accept:
  • Installs, services, modifies, rebuilds, and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
  • Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions; conducts maintenance program to prevent failure of such equipment as centrifugal compressors, electrical controls, evaporative condensers, pumps, fans, and heating equipment; charges air-conditioning systems with refrigerant; checks and tests for leaks; sets and adjusts controls and regulators; fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork; overhauls equipment.
  • Service, modify, and maintain centralized HVAC computer systems and make program corrections.
  • Install and maintain high-technology clean room environments.
  • Perform safe handling and/or places hazardous waste materials (recovered Freon, oil, glycol, acidic coil cleaners) in proper containers for later disposal by appropriately trained employees
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • No clearance required to start
  • 4 years of experience working in a manufacturing industry as a HVAC Technician and/or Service Technician or relatable experience
  • Section 608 EPA Universal Certification
  • Successful candidate must be able to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA)
  • Experience cleaning of evaporator coils, condenser coils, cooling towers and troubleshooting and making repairs to electrical/Electronic circuits.
  • Refrigeration system Troubleshooting
  • Experience working on electronically controlled valve systems to pneumatic controlled multi-zoned air handlers.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of centrifugal, screw, reciprocating and scroll chillers
  • Steam heat exchangers for hot water loop systems and experience with steam coils.
  • Industrial Ventilation
  • Install and Maintenance of industrial refrigeration equipment and computer climate control systems.
  • Welding/brazing and leak checking with an electronic leak detector, evacuating with the use of a micron gage and charging of the unit.
  • Electrical Wiring including low voltage.
  • Understanding Maximo CMMS is a plus
  • Building automation systems
  • A/C and Refrigeration compressor retrofits
  • Service and Installation of natural gas-fired equipment
  • Food service equipment service and installation; freezers, refrigerators, and ice machines

Primary Level Salary Range: $44,400.00 - $74,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
