Job description

The Position
The Public Works Operator (Water) supports safe, reliable municipal water service by completing semi-skilled public works work tied to construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with installation and repair of water/sewer lines and related public works infrastructure
- Operate and care for hand construction tools and equipment as assigned
- Learn to run single-axle trucks and equipment such as an air compressor, boring machine, tapping machine, and backhoe
- Respond to emergency call-outs when needed
Required qualifications/skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Good physical condition and ability to perform manual labor for extended periods
- Valid Colorado driver's license; obtain CDL within three months
- Availability for on-call emergency response
Pay rate: $21.43/hour; full-time, onsite in Cortez; Monday-Friday schedule. Apply to help keep essential water services running for the community.
