OVERNIGHT Emergency Department Radiologist, Worcester MA

Hiring Range: $425,000 - $475,000

Schedule: 7 on / 21 off (approximately 13 weeks/year), 11:00 PM 7:00 AM (on-site)

UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks an overnight emergency radiologist to join our growing academic Emergency Radiology Division. This position offers a highly desirable 7 on / 21 off schedule, focused overnight clinical practice, and a robust academic environment within a large tertiary care system.

Key Highlights

This role includes interpretation of emergency imaging, including CT, radiographs, ultrasound, and MRI, in a high-acuity setting. Inpatient responsibilities are minimal, supporting a streamlined overnight workflow. Fluoroscopy and nuclear medicine studies are rare. MRI interpretation tailored to experience level, with the option for preliminary or final reads.

  • Established and growing department with collaborative, supportive colleagues

  • ~230,000 annual ED visits
  • Emergency Radiology Division (~17 faculty) within a ~90-radiologist academic group
  • Active training environment with 24 residents and 12 fellows
Overnight Workflow
  • On-site coverage at University Hospital
  • Direct collaboration with in-house radiology residents overnight
  • Predominantly level I trauma ED-focused case mix with limited inpatient cross-coverage (occasional wet reads). Teleradiology covers community site EDs.
  • Overlapping attending coverage until 3:00 AM, enabling shared workload during peak hours
  • Integrated teaching environment with real-time resident supervision
  • Streamlined overnight operations with minimized interruptions
