Job Summary:

The overall purpose of the Laundry Aide position is to aid in the delivery of laundry services. This position may wash, dry, fold, iron, mend and distribute or deliver linen or patients' clothing.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a long-term care or healthcare laundry department is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Essential Functions:

  • Assures effective laundering by loading machine to proper weight/level, setting proper cycle, and hooking-up or dispensing proper detergents, chemicals, etc.
  • Sorts laundry by color, fabric, type, etc., and prepares for washing by pre-soaking as appropriate.
  • Transfers laundered items, in sanitized container, to dryers.
  • Folds and stacks dried items in proper order.
  • Irons those items that require it.
  • Mends items that require it.
  • Uses proper equipment, distributes personal laundry to patients' closets.
  • Cleans and disinfects floors, appliances, folding tables, delivery carts and other laundry areas.
  • Ensures that sanitation and quality standards are met.
  • Ensures proper storage of supplies.
  • Identifies and corrects safety hazards.
  • Cleans vents inside dryer after each load and outside of building daily or as needed.
  • Ensures that proper equipment is available and in good repair.
  • Ability to function as a Team Leader/Role Model.
  • Has reviewed Cantex Continuing Care Networks Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employees responsibility to enforce it.
  • Attends weekly in-services, understands, and complies with Patient Care Management Systems.
  • Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety.
  • Performs other essential functions as assigned.
