Houston Based Videographer

Texas Sports Academy Main

Houston, TX • On-site

Part-time

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

Texas Sports Academy is a K-12 school designed for serious student-athletes who want both elite academics and high-level athletic development. Students cover 2x the material in just 2 hours a day, using the same 2-Hour Learning model as Alpha Schools. That frees up their entire afternoon for serious training, where they work alongside former pro and D1 athletes coaching them at the highest standard.
We're hiring a Videographer based in Houston to shoot and edit daily video content across youth sports tournaments, practices, games, and brand events. You'll own the camera work, the edit, and the asset library, producing short-form vertical content for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
What You'll Do
  • Shoot Daily on Location: Capture video at youth sports tournaments, practices, games, and brand events across Houston and surrounding areas. Plan coverage so each shoot produces multiple pieces of usable content.
  • Capture the Full Story: Get player highlights, behind-the-scenes moments, athlete and coach interviews, and atmosphere and B-roll footage.
  • Edit Short-Form Vertical Content: Cut Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts optimized for each platform. Handle pacing, sound design, captions, and on-screen text so each piece is ready to post.
  • Manage the Asset Library: Own footage organization, file backups, and a searchable archive of raw and edited assets so the team can find what they need.
  • Stay Current on Trends: Track social trends, viral formats, and new editing techniques, and apply them to the content you're producing.
  • Fast Turnaround: Deliver same-day or next-day edits on event content so it goes live while the moment is still relevant.

What We're Looking For
  • Portfolio of Short-Form Vertical Work: A reel of Reels, TikToks, or Shorts you've shot and edited, ideally for a brand, team, or creator account in sports, athletics, or lifestyle.
  • Camera Work in Live Environments: Experience shooting handheld in fast, unpredictable settings such as sidelines, courtside, and crowded venues, with consistent results on focus, framing, and exposure.
  • Editing Fluency: Proficient in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut Pro. Strong understanding of hooks, pacing, sound design, and platform-specific best practices for vertical video.
  • Strong Editorial Judgment: Able to anticipate the shot, read a game or event in real time, and identify which moments will cut well in post.
  • Sports Content Background: Prior experience shooting for a team, league, club, or sports brand.
  • Footage Management: A reliable system for cards, backups, folder structure, and file naming so assets are organized and retrievable.
  • AI Editing Tools: Working knowledge of Descript, Runway, or CapCut's AI features.
  • Location: Based in Houston, TX. Reliable transportation to shoots across the Houston metro area. U.S. work authorization required.
  • Gear: Own or have access to a professional camera setup (mirrorless or cinema body), lenses, audio, and basic lighting.

Bonus Points
  • Motion Design: Ability to build graphics, lower thirds, and animated text in After Effects or directly in your editor.
  • Photography: Can pull stills during shoots and deliver photo assets alongside video.
  • Interview Experience: Comfortable running short interviews with athletes, coaches, or parents.
