Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Card Printer Maintenance Technician shall provide regularly scheduled onsite preventive maintenance and on-call remedial maintenance for critical agency card printers nationwide, including local test facilities, to ensure uninterrupted passport production. Unique to the position is that you will travel to and perform on-site maintenance at various locations within the geographical region. Although you are assigned to a specific location, you will be required to travel to other Department of State locations.
This position shall perform the following (to include but not limited to) activities:
  • Deploy HV Card Printers using based on best practices, implement upgrades to the OS and\or hardware based on existing operations, and future needs, investigate and identify the root causes for open Incidents and make recommendations toward mitigation steps to prevent future repeat occurrence.
  • You will also implement changes across other functional units providing recommendations to mitigate risk or impact to the environment and review space utilization reports, and make recommendations to maintain space requirements.
  • You will function as Level / Tier II support for analyzing, troubleshooting, and implementing solutions related to HV Printer technical problems. You will escalate issues to vendor and third-party entities, as necessary and directed by the Government.
  • Additionally, you will produce knowledge base articles and SOPs, provide technical guidance, and assistance to assigned projects, suggesting efficient approaches and methods for solving problems.
  • This position will implement configuration settings to ensure the technical integrity of the system baseline.
  • Implement configuration changes as various changes are imposed on the system during the lifecycle from development through deployment and operations and maintenance.
  • You will be required to prepare present written and oral reports.
  • You will be instrumental in the implementation of lifecycle refresh projects and deploy critical patches in accordance with the HV Card Printer schedules.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The following are the education and experience required for this position:
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Associate's degree or technical training
  • Certification in HV Printer Vendor Training
  • Secret Security Clearance
