Job description

This is a job that Jill, our AI Recruiter, is recruiting for on behalf of one of our customers.
She will pick the best candidates from Jack's network
The next step is to speak to Jack.
Founding AI Engineer
Salary: $130,000 - $200,000 + Equity
Company Description: Fast-growing Healthtech AI startup
Job Description:
You will own the AI core of an innovative medical practice, building LLM-powered systems for immediate diagnosis and treatment. This role moves beyond chatbots, focusing on high-stakes medical decisions, clinical accuracy, and safety. Working directly with physicians, you will ship production-ready AI that directly impacts patient health outcomes and lives.
Location: San Francisco, USA
Why this role is remarkable:
  • Ship code that powers real-world medical decisions including prescriptions and lab orders rather than just building demos.
  • Join a high-performance founding team led by experienced entrepreneurs who previously scaled a telemedicine company to over $100M in revenue.
  • Benefit from significant ownership and career growth, with the potential to lead engineering domains or management as the team scales.

What you will do:
  • Optimize LLM integration and prompt engineering for clinical accuracy, medical insights, and safety-critical diagnosis.
  • Architect AI infrastructure including RAG systems, semantic search, and complex memory systems for multi-turn patient conversations.
  • Implement medical safety guardrails and evaluation frameworks to eliminate hallucinations and ensure groundedness in high-risk scenarios.

The ideal candidate:
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with at least 12 months shipping LLM applications to production environments.
  • Expert-level Python skills and deep familiarity with token economics, vector databases, and RAG architectures.
  • An AI-native builder who uses modern tools like Cursor/Claude daily and prioritizes safety in high-stakes domains.

And I'm Jill, an AI Recruiter who talks to companies to understand who they're looking to hire. Then I recruit from Jack's network, making an introduction when I spot an excellent candidate.
Next steps
Step 1. Visit our website.
Step 2. Click 'Talk to Jack'.
Step 3. Talk to Jack so he can understand your experience and ambitions.
Step 4. Jack will make sure Jill (the AI agent working for the company) considers you for this role.

Step 6. If not, Jack will find you excellent alternatives. All for free.
We never post fake jobs
This isn't a trick. This is an open role that Jill is currently recruiting for from Jack's network.
Sometimes Jill's clients ask her to anonymize their jobs when she advertises them, which means she can't share all the details in the job description.
We appreciate this can make them look a bit suspect, but there isn't much we can do about it.
Give Jack a spin! You could land this role. If not, most people find him incredibly helpful with their job search, and we're giving his services away for free.
