SUMMARY
This is a Part-Time (19 hours per week) student Tutor I position located in the Learning Commons Department for the following areas:

• Math
• Anatomy & Physiology
• Writing/English
• History
• ESOL/ELL
• Health Sciences
• Applied Sciences
• Other

In order to maintain SACSCOC compliance, it isrequiredyou upload a copy of your transcripts for ALL degrees conferred.
Fingerprinting is a requirement for the local ISD's per Texas Education Agency. Alvin College will reimburse the estimated cost of $50, if applicable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends. May require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or to various offsite locations, including local high schools in Alvin, Danbury, Manvel and Pearland and to Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities in Richmond, Rosharon or Lake Jackson.
If a degree, certification or licensure is required, the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications must be received in the Office of Human Resources within (30) days of hire. Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency." All international credential evaluations must be conducted by one of the companies affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES®) in order to be considered for a faculty position. Applicants bear the responsibility of requesting, paying associated fees, and obtaining an original transcript evaluation for submission to the Office of Human Resources. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Responsible for directly tutoring individuals by asking and answering questions and demonstrating examples relating to the subject.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Tutor diverse student populations in various subject areas
• Answer academic questions, providing examples relating to the subject
• Provide analytic and diagnostic services to increase student success
• Ensure students individual learning needs are met
• Refer students to necessary campus support services
• Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials
• Facilitate review sessions, workshops and trainings
• May require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or various offsite locations, including local high schools.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Recommendation from instructor(s) of course one will tutor
• Overall GPA of 2.50
• Earned a B+ or higher in the course(s) one will tutor
• Good Academic standing with the College

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• One (1) year work experience in post-secondary institution tutoring setting
• Bilingual - English/Spanish

• Mastery of course(s) being tutored
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Capable of working with both faculty and students
• Ability to be empathetic to students with difficulties
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Possess good interpersonal skills to perform successfully in a multicultural environment
• Ability to be well organized, task-oriented and flexible
• Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends at various locations

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee typically works in an office/library learning center environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office or library. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
