Applied AI Intern - Fall 2026

Tysons Corner, VA

$30 - $40/hr

Internship

Job description

Company Overview

NobleReach Foundation is a civic leadership platform committed to rekindling a spirit of national service across all career stages. We believe the greatest challenges facing America demand technology, science, and business leaders fluent in government, industry, and academia—leaders who belong across sectors, not confined to one. We’re a hub where current and aspiring leaders can connect to opportunities that can meet their ambition for personal success and their passion to impact the world through public service.

Job Overview
The Applied AI Intern works directly with NobleReach's executive team, getting close to what each executive is working on and helping identify and build the AI capabilities that support it. Rather than executing a project defined before you arrive, you'll spend real time inside an executive's workstream: sitting in on meetings, learning their priorities, and finding where AI can remove friction or extend their reach. You'll then scope, prototype, and ship. The expectation will be to move fast, get working tools in front of the executives who will use them, iterate on their feedback, and push back when you see a better approach. You'll report to the Applied AI Manager, who provides technical direction and coaching, while taking day-to-day direction from the executives you support.
Responsibilities
Executive Embed & Discovery
  • Embed with the executives you support, join their meetings, review their recurring work, and build a real understanding of what occupies their time
  • Identify where AI could remove friction, speed up decisions, or extend an executive's reach, and pressure-test those ideas before committing to build
  • Work with the Applied AI Manager to prioritize opportunities against value, feasibility, and the time you have
Build & Delivery
  • Scope, build, test, and refine solutions in partnership with the Applied AI Manager and the executive you're supporting
  • Build using LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and agent development patterns appropriate to the problem
  • Put working prototypes in front of your executive throughout the internship, not just at the end, and adjust based on their feedback
  • Follow NobleReach's AI Governance Policy and security standards throughout the build
Collaboration & Handoff
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Applied AI Manager and the executives you support
  • Share what you learn across the executive team so a capability built for one leader can be reused by others
  • Document what you build, how it works, how to use it, and what you learned along the way
  • Hand off finished work to the Applied AI Engineer for any further development
  • Handle sensitive executive-level information with discretion and in line with NobleReach's confidentiality expectations
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in AI, data science, computer science, or a related technical field
  • Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs — prompt engineering, tool use, and basic agent or workflow patterns — through coursework, research, or personal projects
  • Experience with one or more enterprise AI platforms such as Salesforce Agentforce, Microsoft 365 Copilot / Copilot Agent Studio, Azure Foundry, or similar
  • Comfortable with AI-assisted development practices, including tools like Claude Code or similar
  • Strong communicator who can work directly with the people who will use what you build
  • Experience building something real users actually used, even at a small scale
  • Experience working with non-technical users — through client work, internships, research, or coursework
  • Familiarity with integrating APIs across business platforms like Microsoft 365, Salesforce, or similar
  • Interest in the intersection of AI, government, and public service
$30/hour for undergraduate students, $40/hour for graduate students
