These positions often require skills in programming, data analysis, and familiarity with AI tools like TensorFlow or PyTorch, and can be performed from anywhere with a computer and internet connection.

What does an AI Intern do in a remote position?

An AI Intern working remotely typically supports research and development projects related to artificial intelligence, such as data analysis, machine learning model training, and coding. Responsibilities may include assisting with data preprocessing, developing algorithms, running experiments, and documenting results. Remote AI interns often collaborate with team members via digital tools, attend virtual meetings, and contribute to ongoing projects while learning from experienced professionals. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates seeking hands-on experience in AI while working from any location.

What is a $900000 AI job?

A $900,000 AI job typically refers to a high-paying position in artificial intelligence, often involving senior roles such as AI researchers, machine learning engineers, or data scientists with extensive experience and specialized skills. Such roles may require advanced knowledge of programming, deep learning frameworks, and industry-specific applications, and they often offer compensation including salary, bonuses, and stock options.

What types of projects can an AI Intern expect to work on in a remote setting?

As a remote AI Intern, you will typically be assigned to assist with real-world projects such as data preprocessing, building and testing machine learning models, or supporting research and development teams with analysis tasks. You might collaborate virtually with your team using tools like Slack, GitHub, or Jupyter Notebooks, and attend regular video meetings to discuss progress and challenges. The work environment is dynamic, often requiring independent problem-solving and proactive communication to stay aligned with mentors and team members.

Is an AI internship worth it?

An AI internship provides hands-on experience with machine learning models, programming languages like Python, and tools such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. It can enhance skills, improve employability, and offer industry insights, making it valuable for those pursuing a career in artificial intelligence or data science.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AI Intern (Remote), and why are they important?

AI Interns typically need a foundation in computer science, mathematics, and machine learning concepts, often supported by coursework or a related degree. Familiarity with programming languages like Python, tools such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, and version control systems like Git is commonly expected. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and clear communication help interns collaborate and learn effectively in remote settings. These skills and qualities are vital to successfully contribute to AI projects and adapt to the fast-evolving nature of the field.

Which 3 jobs will survive AI?

AI interns and roles involving complex problem-solving, creativity, and emotional intelligence are likely to persist. Jobs such as healthcare professionals, skilled trades, and roles requiring human judgment are less susceptible to automation. Developing skills in areas like critical thinking, communication, and AI oversight can enhance job security.

Job description

Steel Partners Holdings L.P. is a global diversified holding company with operations spanning diversified industrial products, energy, defense, supply chain management and logistics, banking, and youth sports. Founded in 1990 by Warren G. Lichtenstein, Steel Partners has grown from a small private investment partnership into a $2 billion enterprise with approximately 5,200 employees across 90 locations in 14 countries. In January 2026, Steel Partners returned to being a privately held, family-owned company, continuing its long-term, values-driven approach to ownership and operations.
We work with our companies to increase long-term value for all stakeholders. Everything we do is guided by The Steel Way, our operating philosophy and cultural foundation. The Steel Way defines how we lead, how we operate, and how we grow, uniting our people across every business unit and industry around a common purpose: building exceptional businesses that stand the test of time by developing exceptional people.
The Steel Way is built on five pillars. Our Kids First purpose reflects our belief that people perform best when they are developed, supported, and challenged to succeed. While rooted in youth sports, Kids First inspires how we invest in the growth and development of all people, including our employees, leaders, coaches, and communities. Our Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, and Commitment guide our decisions and actions every day. The Steel Business System drives operational excellence and continuous improvement across our companies. The Steel Coaching System helps leaders develop people through meaningful conversations, observations, and participation. And Steel Grow reflects our commitment to recruiting, retaining, and rewarding talented people while creating opportunities for learning, advancement, and leadership development throughout their careers.
Together, these pillars create a culture focused on long-term success, accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. They provide a common framework that connects our businesses, strengthens our teams, and helps us create lasting value for employees, customers, communities, and shareholders.
Over the past 36 years, Steel Partners has evolved from a private investment fund into a diversified global holding company. While our businesses have grown and changed, our philosophy remains the same: persistence and hard work are the cornerstones of any great organization. With purpose, passion, and perseverance, great things can happen.
The Role
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intern will be embedded across Steel Partners' corporate functions - including Finance, Operations, HR, and Strategy - to help design, build, and deploy AI-powered tools, automations, and intelligent bots. The intern will work closely with functional leaders and the investment team to identify inefficiency, prototype solutions, and implement AI strategies that drive measurable impact. Given the lean structure of our corporate team, the AI Intern will take on meaningful ownership of projects from day one and have direct exposure to senior leadership.
Responsibilities
  • AI Strategy & Implementation: Partner with functional teams to assess processes, identify automation opportunities, and develop AI-driven solutions that reduce manual work and improve decision-making
  • Bot Development: Design, build, and deploy intelligent bots (e.g., workflow automation bots, data retrieval bots, reporting assistants) tailored to specific business functions such as finance, HR, supply chain, and operations
  • Tool Integration: Integrate large language models (LLMs) and AI APIs into existing workflows and internal systems to enhance productivity across corporate functions
  • Data & Analytics: Analyze internal data sets to surface insights, build dashboards, and support data-driven reporting for portfolio companies and the investment team
  • Process Documentation: Document AI solutions, technical workflows, and user guides to enable adoption and sustainability of new tools
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across departments to understand pain points, gather requirements, and ensure solutions are practical and user-friendly
  • Research & Emerging Tech: Monitor advancements in AI/ML tools, platforms, and best practices, and bring forward relevant innovations for evaluation

Benefits
  • Networking opportunities with key business and technology community members
  • Opportunity to earn class or internship credits pursuant to your attending college or university's credentials
  • Real-world experience building AI solutions deployed across a global holding company
  • Great mentors who care about your professional and technical growth
  • Available on site or remote. New York City or Miami location available for corporate internships

Steel Partners Core Values
  • Teamwork
  • Respect
  • Integrity
  • Commitment

Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation and gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed (within 1-2 years) a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks, LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google), or automation platforms
  • Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript; experience with REST APIs and cloud services a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a bias toward action and building
  • Excellent communication skills - able to translate technical concepts for non-technical business stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different functional teams
  • Experience or coursework in industrial, manufacturing, defense, finance, or supply chain domains considered a plus
  • A self-starter mentality and comfort working in a fast-paced, lean environment
