Chemours is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our growing Chemours Discovery Hub team. This position will report directly to the Environmental Manager at our Newark, DE location.

The Environmental Specialist will be part of an exciting opportunity to impact the company's compliance and performance programs at our State-of-the-Art Chemours Discovery hub located on the University of Delaware STAR campus. The Environmental Specialist will be involved in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of various EHS systems across the Site. This highly visible role interfaces with R&D, Technical Service, Pilot Facilities, site EHS functions, and leadership to administer programs, procedures, develop reports and to ensure compliance.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain and support environmental compliance systems, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Prepare, review, and submit data for regulatory and corporate reports (e.g. EPCRA, Air Emissions Inventory, Wastewater Discharge Monitoring Reports, Hazardous waste reporting, corporate sustainability, etc.)

  • Conduct environmental applicability determinations and compliance assessments for routine operations, projects, and process changes.

  • Lead and support environmental audits, inspections, and incident investigations; ensure timely corrective actions and continuous improvement.

  • Develop, update, and maintain environmental procedures, documentation, and training materials.

  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate environmental performance metrics to support compliance and decision-making.

  • Build and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends.

  • Support hazardous waste management activities, including storage area compliance, labeling, containment, and documentation.

The following is required for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical/scientific discipline.

  • 3-5 years of environmental experience, preferably in R&D, laboratory, or manufacturing environments.

  • Working knowledge of air compliance programs and environmental reporting requirements.

  • Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., RCMS, RC14001, ISO 14001).

  • Knowledge of hazardous waste characterization and hazardous waste storage area requirements.

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Experience supporting environmental audits, compliance assessments, incident investigations, and regulatory agency interactions.

  • Experience with Delaware and Maryland environmental regulations.

  • Experience with air and wastewater permitting.

  • Experience with lab packing, hazardous material/waste shipments, and DOT classifications.

  • Experience working with environmental management systems (RCMS, RC14001, ISO 14001).

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and enterprise systems; programming experience (Python, R) is a plus.
