Ai Backend Developer information

How does an AI backend developer interact with data scientists and frontend teams?

As an AI Backend Developer, you will frequently collaborate with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into scalable backend systems. This involves translating prototypes into production-ready APIs, ensuring data pipelines are robust, and optimizing inference performance. You’ll also work closely with frontend teams to define API contracts and ensure that data flows smoothly between the user interface and backend processes. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as these collaborations help deliver seamless AI-powered features to end users.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an AI backend developer?

To thrive as an AI Backend Developer, you need strong programming skills (especially in Python or Java), a solid grasp of machine learning concepts, and experience with backend frameworks, supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with cloud platforms (like AWS or Azure), containerization tools (such as Docker), and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch is typically required, along with knowledge of RESTful APIs and databases. Problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and clear communication are essential soft skills that help navigate complex projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. These technical and interpersonal skills ensure robust, scalable AI solutions are developed and maintained efficiently in a rapidly evolving field.

What is the difference between Ai Backend Developer vs Data Engineer?

AspectAi Backend DeveloperData Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in CS, AI, or related fields; knowledge of AI frameworksBachelor's in CS, Data Science, or related fields; expertise in data pipelines
Work EnvironmentDeveloping AI models, integrating AI into backend systemsBuilding and maintaining data infrastructure and pipelines
Employer & Industry UsageTech companies, AI startups, enterprises integrating AIData-driven companies, finance, healthcare, tech firms

While both roles require strong programming skills and familiarity with data processing, Ai Backend Developers focus on integrating AI models into backend systems, whereas Data Engineers specialize in building data pipelines and infrastructure. Both roles are essential in AI-driven projects but serve different functions within the data ecosystem.

What is an AI backend developer?

AI Backend Developers are software engineers who specialize in building and maintaining the server-side infrastructure that powers artificial intelligence applications. They design APIs, manage databases, and implement algorithms that support machine learning models and AI-driven features. Their work ensures that AI systems are scalable, efficient, and securely integrated with other services. AI Backend Developers often work closely with data scientists and frontend developers to deliver end-to-end AI solutions.

What is the salary of AI backend developer?

The salary of an AI backend developer typically ranges from $80,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and company size. Skilled developers with expertise in machine learning frameworks, programming languages like Python, and cloud platforms tend to earn higher salaries.

Job description

About RUM Group Inc.

RUM Group Inc. is an AI infrastructure and video company. Its Quake AI business delivers AI compute as a service, operating AI data centers including GPU and CPU compute, storage, and networking at scale. Rumble, RUM Group's video business and the original tenant of Quake AI, provides creators and enterprises a full suite of video technologies, unlocking reach, scale, and monetization. RUM Group is building the rails of the agentic-first enterprise: the AI compute, cloud infrastructure, and trust layer for the agentic AI future, advancing RUM Group's mission to maximize the power of human imagination. For more information visit www.rum.group.

Rumble is seeking a Senior Back-End Developer to design, build, and maintain high-performance server-side systems that power a large-scale video platform serving millions of users. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who can own backend systems end to end, improve them in production, and make strong technical decisions as scale, complexity, and performance demands grow.

Our environment centers on backend services, data-intensive application logic, and production systems that must perform reliably at high scale. You should be comfortable working across PHP, MySQL, caching layers, APIs, Linux environments, and legacy systems, while also partnering effectively with front-end engineers to connect user-facing components to server-side logic.

You'll work closely with engineering partners to turn requirements into clear technical plans, apply strong systems design fundamentals to complex backend problems, and make sound implementation decisions across application, data, and infrastructure layers.

Responsibilities

Design and evolve scalable backend systems for a high-traffic video platform, with a focus on performance, maintainability, and long-term reliability. This includes building APIs, optimizing MySQL schemas and queries, implementing effective caching strategies with Memcached and Redis, and supporting background jobs or data-processing workloads that operate at significant scale.

The role also includes maintaining and modernizing legacy code, integrating front-end components with backend logic, and contributing to technical direction through code reviews, reusable patterns, and sound architectural judgment.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in back-end development, including strong experience building production systems at scale.
  • 10+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languages, including 5+ years working with PHP and modern PHP practices such as PHP 8+.
  • Strong experience with MySQL, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization, along with hands-on experience using caching systems such as Memcached and Redis.
  • In-depth understanding of web development fundamentals, HTTP protocols, and Linux server environments, including reading logs and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, along with the willingness to jump into any project when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with video technologies, containers, codecs, or live streaming environments.
  • Experience with NGINX, WebSocket-based communication, BASH scripting, networking fundamentals, or static analysis tools such as PHPStan.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience modernizing legacy PHP applications, working with server-side rendering architectures, or contributing to CI/CD and automated testing practices such as PHPUnit.
