Job description

Overview
DRT Strategies delivers expert management consulting and information technology (IT) solutions to large federal agencies, state and local government and commercial clients in health care, technology, and financial services industries.
The three letters of our name, DRT, stand for Driving Resolution Together, which is the core philosophy on which the company was founded. That is, we collaborate with our clients to solve their most pressing challenges - together.
We are problem solvers dedicated to your success, combining Fortune 500 experience with small business responsiveness. We have established a reputation with our clients as a forward-thinking consulting firm with demonstrated success in implementing solutions that lead to meaningful results. Our world-class consultants unite people to work collaboratively to achieve project goals and make vision a reality.
Project Description:
The CDRH's Office of the Center Director (OCD) provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the Center regarding the regulation of medical devices and radiation-emitting products. The Total Product Lifecycle (TPLC) Advisory Program (TAP) is intended to simultaneously lower the risk for commercialization of medtech innovation and create better characterized, safer and more effective devices. It does this by communicating up front with downstream stakeholders whose support is required for commercialization, and by making the FDA approval process more efficient and responsive to sponsors. This communication transforms late-stage unknown / unmanageable risk to better understood early risk, where it is easier to manage and create strategic options. Success of this part of the TAP program depends on CDRH’s deep understanding of these downstream stakeholders, and our ability to communicate this understanding to sponsors of Breakthrough-Designated devices. This comprehensive understanding of the medtech innovation ecosystem and risk landscape is found in a select few independent private sector consultants, and our ability to utilize this expertise is critical.
The objective of this contract is to provide the CDRH, the OCD, and the TAP with professional support services to support the development of content related to TAP training modules, work with the Agency to optimize the current processes, assess the value of the program and its return on investment (ROI), and to suggest improvements in program areas.
Job Summary:
The Agentic AI Developer to design, build, and deploy autonomous AI agent systems that augment human workflows and drive operational efficiency across our TAP programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deploy agentic AI systems using established frameworks (e.g., LangChain)
  • Develop and refine prompt engineering strategies, including chain-of-thought, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool use, and multi-agent orchestration to enable reliable autonomous task execution
  • Integrate AI agents with external tools, APIs, databases, and enterprise systems to enable agents to take meaningful, real-world actions
  • Build human-in-the-loop controls, guardrails, and escalation mechanisms to ensure AI agents operate safely, accurately, and within defined boundaries
  • Evaluate agent performance through testing, benchmarking, and iterative refinement — identifying failure modes and implementing targeted improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including program managers, subject matter experts, and clients — to identify high-value AI automation opportunities and translate them into deployed solutions
  • Document agent architectures, workflows, and SOPs to support knowledge transfer, compliance requirements, and future development
  • Stay current on the rapidly evolving agentic AI landscape — evaluating new models, tools, and frameworks for applicability to ongoing and future projects
  • Support other activities as directed by DRT Portfolio Manager
Required Experience:
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust
  • Must have 3+ years of software development experience, with at least 1 year focused on AI/ML or LLM-based application development
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with experience building and deploying AI-powered applications
  • Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini) and agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph)
  • Experience with prompt engineering techniques, including chain-of-thought, RAG
  • Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB, pgvector)
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles including transparency, and human oversight in agentic systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience deploying AI solutions in a federal government or regulated environment, with familiarity with ATO processes and FedRAMP-authorized tools
  • Experience with multi-agent systems, agent-to-agent communication, and orchestration patterns
Education & Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant field (Preferred)
  • Relevant certifications in AI/ML, cloud, or data engineering (e.g., AWS ML Specialty, Google Professional ML Engineer)
Work Authorization, Clearance Requirement, & Additional Information:
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust clearance. Due to contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders) to be eligible.
  • No agencies, third parties, or Corp-to-Corp submissions.
Salary Range:
  • $48/hr - $62/hr
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
