Job description

Gevo is a next generation, "low-carbon" fuel company focused on the development and commercialization of renewable alternatives to petroleum-based products. Low-carbon fuels reduce the carbon intensity, or the level of greenhouse gas emissions, compared to standard fossil-based fuels across their lifecycle. The most common low-carbon fuels are renewable fuels. Gevo is focused on the development and production of mainstream fuels like gasoline and jet fuel using renewable feedstocks that have the potential to lower greenhouse gas emissions at a meaningful scale and enhance agricultural production, including food and other related products.
About Gevo & GND
Gevo, Inc. is a U.S.-based renewable chemicals and advanced biofuels company advancing the circular economy through low-carbon solutions. Gevo North Dakota (GND) partners directly with growers and local communities to build traceable, lower-carbon feedstock supply chains that enable drop-in fuels with reduced lifecycle carbon intensity. Verity is Gevo's software solution to gather necessary farm data for existing and new carbon programs (compliance and voluntary) to enable biofuel plants to sell fuel or carbon credits into these markets
Role Summary
Verity is seeking a Field Services Intern to support the Field Service Manager in North Dakota. This role is ideal for a junior or senior undergraduate student majoring in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates attending the University of North Dakota or other regional institutions.
The intern will work directly with farmers and plant stakeholders to support data collection, on-farm attestations, and field visits tied to renewable fuel and low-carbon program participation. This position provides hands-on exposure to agricultural operations, sustainability programs, and customer-facing field work.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Field Service Manager with on-farm and plant field visits across North Dakota
  • Work directly with farmers to:
    • Explain program requirements in clear, practical terms
    • Collect and verify operational information
    • Obtain signed farmer attestations and supporting documentation
  • Assist with preparation, documentation, and follow-up from field visits
  • Serve as a professional, trusted point of contact for farmers and plant personnel during engagements
  • Capture field observations and feedback to support continuous improvement of Verity's farmer-facing processes
  • Coordinate closely with the Customer Success team to ensure accurate and timely information flow
  • Support additional field or customer success initiatives as needed

Qualifications
Required:
  • Junior or senior standing in an undergraduate program
  • Major in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, Agricultural Business, or a related field
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally within North Dakota
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging directly with farmers
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle documentation accurately
  • Professional demeanor and reliability in field-based work

Preferred:
  • Enrollment at the University of North Dakota
  • Familiarity with:
    • Row crop production systems
    • Farm operations and recordkeeping
    • Sustainability, conservation practices, or agricultural data collection
  • Prior experience working on a farm, with growers, or in an agricultural field role

Success Metrics
  • Direct exposure to real-world agricultural sustainability and low-carbon fuel programs
  • Hands-on experience working with farmers, ethanol plants, and renewable energy stakeholders
  • Insight into customer success operations within an ag-tech and climate-focused company
  • Mentorship from Verity's Field Service Manager and Customer Success leadership

Work Environment
  • Field-based at Gevo North Dakota with extensive regional travel.

Who We Are
  • We are People First
  • We are Mission-Focused
  • We are Agile
  • We are Innovators
