WolfCreek Consulting is conducting a search for an experienced Purchasing Agent III on behalf of a major public-sector organization in Broward County, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished procurement professional who understands competitive purchasing, contract administration, RFPs/bids, vendor negotiations, and strategic sourcing in a high-volume environment. It will be a temporary to permanent position.....


The Opportunity

The Purchasing Agent III will manage purchasing activities for assigned commodities and services while helping ensure the organization receives the best combination of quality, service, compliance, and competitive pricing. The position plays an important role in developing procurement documents, analyzing market conditions, negotiating contract terms, managing competitive solicitations, and working directly with departments and vendors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing activities for assigned commodities and services.
  • Develop, write, edit, and coordinate specifications, bid requirements, RFPs, and other procurement documents.
  • Manage formal Bid and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes.
  • Analyze pricing, market conditions, trends, product availability, and purchasing alternatives.
  • Assist in negotiating favorable contract terms and conditions.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and cost avoidance.
  • Conduct pre-bid meetings and assist with bid tabulations, evaluations, negotiations, and recommendations.
  • Develop purchasing strategies designed to obtain high-quality products and services at competitive costs.
  • Work closely with administrators, department leaders, end users, committees, and vendors.
  • Monitor vendor performance, including delivery, quality, documentation, and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain accurate records related to contracts and authorized spending.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following experience/education combinations:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus at least 4 years of purchasing experience within the last 7 years in a high-volume governmental or private-sector purchasing environment; OR
  • Associate's degree plus at least 6 years of qualifying purchasing experience within the last 8 years; OR
  • High school diploma plus at least 8 years of qualifying purchasing experience within the last 10 years.

Candidates must also possess a valid certification in a procurement discipline from an accredited institution or be able to obtain the certification within the first 12 months of employment. Experience preparing bid specifications for both standard and complex materials, strong communication abilities, and computer skills are also required.
