Job description

AccentCare Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to help brighten the lives of our patients. Whether you are talking, playing music, praying with them, visiting with a therapy dog, or simply providing companionship, you can make a difference in the lives of hospice patients. While you are brightening our patients’ lives you might find that your life becomes brighter too!

AccentCare Hospice serves patients and families across multiple counties in Western Washington and can match you with the AccentCare branch nearest you.

We are currently seeking new volunteers to provide a wide variety of services to our patients and their loved ones.

  • Direct care volunteers visit with patients wherever they call home to provide companionship and socialization.
  • Loyal Friends Pet Teams bring therapy dogs to visit our patients.
  • Music companions use the power of music to enhance the quality of our patients’ lives.
  • Spiritual companions share their faith with patients of the same religious background and complement the services of our chaplains.
  • Legacy project volunteers assist patients and families with creating meaningful projects to honor the patients’ life.
  • Vigil volunteers provide supportive presence at the bedside of patients who are actively dying.

These are just a few of the ways volunteers in our organization support our patients, families, and staff.

Training is free and flexible to fit your schedule. We ensure that you feel educated and prepared for working with patients before you start.

Students age 15 and up are encouraged to join us as indirect volunteers or can buddy with another trained volunteer (teen or adult) to make in-person visits to patients in facilities.

We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find ways to share your talents with those at the end of life.
